Likely misattributed Edit

I've seen some people posting a supposed Diogenes quote "one original thought is worth a thousand mindless quotings." But in a google books search, the earliest example I could find was this 1996 column by William Safire, and the topic of the column was fake quotes misattributed to famous wise figures, so it seems very like that Safire was engaging in a little cheeky humor where the reader was supposed to catch on that this might be an example of the very issue of misattributed quotes he'd been talking about, akin to this joke. I have moved the first of these over. I will wait until next week before moving the rest to allow time for any errors I have made to be brought to my attention. JeepdaySock 15:32, 21 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
