/Re the dispute regarding whether or not the following quote should be included:

  • The failure to capitalize Black when it is synonymous with African American is a matter of unintended racism, to put the best possible face on it.
    • Robert S. Wachal, "The Capitalization of Black and Native American," American Speech, vol. 75, no. 4 (Winter 2000), pp. 364–65

/To my mind, this is a very notable (factual, morally valuable) quote that easily meets the Wikiquote:Quotability criteria. Anutherconcerned (talk) 02:33, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Agree, Wachal is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Iowa who has been cited by reliable secondary sources, notable enough to be in WQ. Rupert Loup 05:37, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Robert Wachal is an obscure person who isn't even notable enough to have his own Wikipedia page. He is not notable and neither is his claim that not capitalising a b is racism --2001:8003:4085:8100:80F7:11C1:DAEB:260A 06:09, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Carney, on the other hand, is a medal of honour recipient, and the source writing about him is the official US military website --2001:8003:4085:8100:80F7:11C1:DAEB:260A 06:11, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Carney is not the author of the quote, is the subject. And the subject of this article is not Carney. Rupert Loup 06:13, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
the subject of this article is African Americans, Carney was one, and he was awarded the Medal of Honor --2001:8003:4085:8100:C31:7EE7:1AD9:A121 06:17, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
and you have no addressed what was said about Wachal. --2001:8003:4085:8100:C31:7EE7:1AD9:A121 06:30, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
