Song lyrics edit

All songs written by Sly Stone, except as noted.

  • All we need is a drummer
For people who only need a beat, yeahh!
I'm gonna add a little guitar,
And make it easy to move your feet.
    I'm gonna add some bottom,
So that the dancers just won't hide.
  • End of the spring and here she comes back
    Hi hi hi hi there
Them summer days, those summer days.

That's when I had most of my fun, back
    High high high high there
Them summer days, those summer days.

  • Youth and truth are makin' love.
    Dig it for a starter.
Dyin' young is hard to take,
    Sellin' out is harder.

I want to thank you falettinme be mice elf agin.
Thank you falettinme be mice elf agin.

Stand! (1969) edit

  • Stand!
In the end you'll still be you,
One that's done all the things you set out to do.
    Stand!
    There's a cross for you to bear;
Things to go through if you're going anywhere.
    Stand!
For the things you know are right.
It's the truth that the truth makes them so uptight.
    Stand!
    All the things you want are real;
You have you to complete and there is no deal.
  • Beat is getting stronger,
    Feel it getting stronger.
    Sound is getting longer, too.
Music is a thought to me.

I want to, I want to
I wanna take you higher (take you higher)
I wanna take you higher (take you higher).

  • I'm livin' livin' livin' life with all its ups and downs.
I'm givin' givin' givin' love and smilin' at the frowns.
You're in trouble when you find it's hard for you to smile.
A simple song might make it better for a little while.
  • Sometimes I'm right, I can be wrong.
My own beliefs are in my song.
A butcher, a banker, a drummer, and then
Makes no difference what group I'm in.

I am everyday people! (yeah yeah)

  • There is a blue one who can't accept the green one
For living with the black one, trying to be a skinny one.
    Different strokes, for different folks!
And so on, and so on, and scooby-dooby-doo. (oooh, sha sha!)
    • Everyday People
  • We've got to live together!
I am no better, and neither are you.
We are the same whatever we do.
You love me, you hate me, you know me and then,
You can't figure out the bag I'm in.

I am everyday people! (yeah yeah)

    • Everyday People
