Only wolves and crows have the freedom to climb on the walls of gray stone and the wind carries their cries to the sea of Genoa which on that mountain cannot be seen. Yet there are those in Baiedo who say that a witch lives in a stone house behind an iron door. And I tell you it's true as I say it's true that the moon hides behind the black clouds. But if you believe it, what does it matter if then the witch is you and I trust your eyes more than what I see. Because the mystery of Baiedo lies in believing in witches and in the fact that everyone is alone under the weight of their shadows. And you ask me why I come to Baiedo to find you always when the night is darkest and the crows scream louder.
