Oobi

television series

Oobi (2000–2005) is an American children's television series that was made for the Noggin channel. The first season (made up of shorts that were 1-2 minutes long) premiered in 2000. The second season (made up of longer episodes) premiered on April 7, 2003 and ended in 2004. The third and final season premiered on September 6, 2004 and ended on February 11, 2005. The series was produced by Little Airplane Productions and Noggin Originals.

Grampu: Oobi?
Oobi: Oh. Oobi dance, you dance.
[Grampu hits play on the music (steel drum, bass guitar, rhythm guitar and cowbell) and Oobi does a dance move.]
Oobi: Oobi dance, you dance.
[Oobi continues dancing. Kako, Uma, and Grampu watch him. Grampu then stops the music. Oobi joins the others.]
Grampu: Uma?
Uma: Oh. Uma dance, you dance!
[Grampu turns on the music (piano, drums, and bass guitar) and Uma dances.]
Uma: Uma dance, you dance.
[Uma continues to dance until Grampu turns off the music. Uma sighs, joins the others and Grampu chuckle.]
Grampu: Kako.
Kako: Huh? Oh! [to viewers] Kako dance, you dance.
[Kako sings his own music and dances. This confuses everyone else.]
Grampu: Kako?
[Grampu points to the radio.]
Kako: Heh? Oh.

Animal Cookies! edit

Kako: Oobi? Pick.
Oobi: Oh.
[Oobi reaches into the box, and takes out a pig cookie.]
Kako: Pig?
Oobi: Mm-hm.
Kako: Pig!
[Kako starts acting like a pig by oinking constantly, and eats all of the animal cookies, including the cookie Oobi was holding. Oobi gets annoyed over what Kako did.]
Oobi: Pig.
Kako: [burp] Oops.

[Oobi, Uma, and Kako are shown eating the pizza.]

Uma: Ooh, Uma help. Uma glue. [humming]
[Uma douses Oobi and Kako with glue, sticking their mouths together.]
Oobi: Uh, Uma, good...
Oobi and Kako: Uma, Uma! Uma, Uma! [straining]
Oobi: Ugh!
Kako: Stuck.
Uma: Uma done.

Oobi's Car! edit

[Uma puts the toy car on a big, blue block. She has a red toy wrench and red and yellow toy pliers.]
Uma: Uma fix car. Tools. Uma fix car.
[Uma tries to put the wheel back on with the pliers, but she just makes it worse. The door falls off. The car slides off the block and the hood falls off.]
Uma: [gasps] Door, tire! Oh, no! Oh, car broken. Fix... fix. Fix car. Um, fix. Fix car- Oobi car mess! Oh. [whimpering]
[Oobi hums as he enters the living room where he meets up with a worried Uma.]
Oobi: Uh, Uma? Oobi car?
Uma: Oh! Oh, Oobi car? [thinks] Uh, red car?
Oobi: Uh-huh! [concerned] Uh, Uma? Oobi car...
[Uma gestures Oobi to his toy car, which is now a wreck. He gasps in horror, and begins to stammer.]
Oobi: Door...?! Tire...?! Red... Car... Oobi's?!?
Uma: No squeak.
Oobi: [sputters] ...UMA!!! OOBI CAR!!!! [sputters] ....BROKEN!!! [whimpers]
Uma: [tries to calm Oobi down] But, Oobi... Oobi--
Oobi: [outraged] OOBI, ANGRY, UMA! ANGRY, ANGRY, ANGRY! [grunt]
[Both Oobi and Uma whimper, with Oobi being upset over his car being broken and Uma being upset over Oobi yelling at her, when Grampu enters the room with his toolbox.]
Grampu: Oobi, Uma, problem?
Oobi: G-GRAMPU!!! OOBI CAR!!!! UMA PLAY, NOT... CAREFUL... BROKEN!!! [slowly] ANGRY. [grunt]
Uma: [sad] Uma sorry.
[Grampu pats Oobi's head.]
Grampu: Oobi, Grampu understand. Car broken. Oobi angry.
Oobi: [shakes head] Angry.

[Oobi and Kako walk into the kitchen. Grampu sets out some sandwiches for them.]
