Last words in Mortal Kombat media
The numerous deaths across all different media in the Mortal Kombat universe have yielded many memorable last words.
Video games
edit- Spare me!
- Who: Scorpion
- Source: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero
- Notes: Says this to Sub-Zero, who proceeds to rip Scorpion's spine out. Scorpion is later revived as a Spectre. This is the canonical sequence of events; the player may choose not to kill Scorpion, thus skipping the rematch in the Prison of Souls.
- Never, sorcerer!!! WAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!
- Who: Liu Kang
- Source: Mortal Kombat 4
- Notes: Character was deceived by the Edenian Traitor, Tanya. He then turns to see Quan Chi and Shinnok. He tries to attack the latter, but kills him effortlessly, to which Shinnok replies "Fool". However, this ending is non-canon, and is therefore a what-if scenario.
- You leave me no choice. Prepare to be destroyed!
- Who: Monster
- Source: Mortal Kombat: Deception
- Notes: Character encounters Shujinko in the Nexus and claims to be the Champion of the Elder Gods before encountering him in Mortal Kombat. He is then defeated.
- Face each other, or face me, it makes no difference! YOU! WILL! FIGHT!
- Who: Dark Kahn
- Source: Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
- Notes: For the entirety of the storyline, Dark Kahn hides within the merging of Apokolips and Outworld, influencing the DC superheroes, villains and kombatants to fight amongst one another to further fuel the chaos. Dark Kahn does not appear until the final chapter of both sides where he has lured all participants to fight amongst one another until Shang Tsung, Raiden, Superman and Batman are left standing from the midst. The god of thunder and the Man of Steel chase him to his tower, which has become a merger of Shao Kahn's Palace and Darkseid's Palace where he tricks them into fighting each other. Eventually, the two are able to break free from his influence and channel his own rage against him, causing his destruction, and Shao Kahn and Darkseid to exist separately (although in each others universe, with a temporary loss of powers). The kombatants deal with Darkseid and send him to the Netherrealm while Shao Kahn becomes trapped in a fragmented Phantom Zone.
Mortal Kombat Armageddon
edit- They are dark warriors, yet they resemble our own Lin Kuei!
- Who: Unnamed Lin Kuei Warrior
- Notes: Character warns Sub-Zero, the leader of the Lin Kuei Clan, that the Brotherhood of Shadow (under the command of Noob Saibot) have invaded the Lin Kuei Temple. The character is then killed by one of them by stabbing him in the back with a blade.
- I...I...I couldn't risk detection. I didn't carry the records with me. They're aaaalll up here!
- Who: Unnamed member of the Brotherhood of Shadow
- Notes: Character informs the sorcerer Quan Chi that he did a job as commanded. Quan Chi then tells him to give him what he had found, but finds that he never brought back whatever he needed to begin with. Disappointed by his failure, Quan Chi walks up to the character and kills him by ripping his head off.
- There is no need; I intend to stay here and destroy this atrocity Daegon has created in my name. When I am done, the Red Dragon will be nothing more than broken bodies strewn throughout the hollows of this mountain! Go now, and may the Elder Gods watch over you...
- Who: Caro
- Notes: Caro, the dragon guide to Daegon was enslaved for the Red Dragon crime syndicate. After Daegon has fled to the Netherrealm, Taven wants to come back and bring Caro out, but the dragon says this before engaging the Red Dragon in a fierce off-screen battle. It is likely that Caro is killed in the fight.
- Go now, and may the Elder Gods watch over you.
- Who: Orin
- Notes: Orin, the dragon guide to Taven is badly injured by Quan Chi who had compromised the dragon's cave. Holding the portal to Outworld open for Taven, he bids this and presumably dies soon after.
- With the very weapons Father gave us to use against Blaze. And now I will use them to destroy you. Fight!
- Who: Daegon
- Notes: Says this prior to fighting Taven, the game's protagonist, but is ultimately defeated. May have taken part in the Battle of Armageddon, where he died along with almost all the other warriors.
- Now face me...in Mortal Kombat!
- Who: Blaze
- Notes: Last lines before fighting Taven in Mortal Kombat, and, shortly after, is defeated and destroyed by him. As a result of his destruction, Taven becomes a full god and Protector of Edenia. However, Mortal Kombat (2011 video game) reveals that Shao Kahn defeated Blaze. The next game also returns to the period of the first 3 games, with slightly altered events. Taven's status after this is unknown.

- Notes: Says this to Sindel before setting off a lightning blast that kills them both. He is later revived by Quan Chi to serve him, but Mortal Kombat: Aftermath reveals that character's past self was brought to life to face his present self.

- Notes: Dies in Liu Kang's arms from injuries sustained from her fight against Sindel. She is referencing a previous encounter with Liu Kang, in which he says a similar line. She is later revived by Quan Chi to serve him. But in Mortal Kombat 11, her past self was brought to life to face her present self.
- You... have killed us... all...
- Who: Liu Kang
- Notes: Says this to Raiden, who accidentally mortally wounds Liu Kang while battling him. He is revived by Quan Chi to serve him. But in Mortal Kombat 11, his past self was brought to life to face his present self.

Comics
editMortal Kombat X comic
edit- I expected a better fight, Kenshi. Figured you might kill a few of us. Instead you hid in the wilderness.
- Who: Hsu Hao
- Notes: Character is about to kill Kenshi, due to the latter betraying the Red Dragon clan. Before he could do so, Scorpion arrived to rescue Kenshi and his son, Takeda. Scorpion then throws his Kunai directly into Hsu Hao's cybernetic chest implant, and drags him towards the ninja spectre. Scorpion then concentrates Hellfire into his fist and punches Hsu Hao through his skull, killing him.
- I'm the bitch with a blade.
- Who: Suchin
- Notes: Suchin was the lover of Kenshi and mother of Takeda Takahashi. When she learned that the Red Dragon were coming for Takeda, she comforted him before hiding in the next town over. When the Red Dragon arrived, insultingly demanding to know if she was Takeda's mother, Suchin drew a hidden sword and killed all three of them with a single blow each, but was killed herself when the last fired a handgun at her right as she killed him, the bullet tearing through her chest and killing her instantly.
- With every drop of blood, I grow more powerful. Raiden never told you about the dagger's power, did he? Or its connection to Quan Ch-
- Who: Forrest Fox
- Notes: Character knocks Scorpion back with a beam of red light, and proclaims that he'll grow stronger with every drop of blood that is spilled. The demonic force mocks Scorpion for trusting Raiden and starts saying something about the Kamidogu daggers having a connection to Quan Chi, but Fox's throat is pierced by a sword and his head is cleaved in half by Takeda, ending the life of the possessed Shirai Ryu.
- Reiko wants you ladies alive...But he didn't say in one piece.
- Who: Mavado
- Notes: Character tells Cassie Cage and Jacqui Briggs that Reiko wants both of them alive, and makes it clear he doesn't have to bring them intact and leaps at them. Although he manages to wound Cassie on the arm with his swords, Jacqui gets him in a lock, allowing Cassie to shatter one of his knees with a kick. Cassie then finishes Mavado by cutting his chest open with his own hook sword, killing him.
- You will die before solving that riddle...
- Who: King Gorbak
- Notes: Says this to Kotal Kahn after the latter asks how to stop an unstoppable army. Kotal grabs Gorbak by the face, partially ripping it off before he crushes Gorbak's head between his hands, killing the Shokan king. His body is later brought back to Kuatan, where he was wrapped in bandages and ceremonially cremated.
- Can't...GURK. Stop...GOCK! H-help... me...HRRAGH!
- Who: Reiko
- Notes: Character is screaming in agony because his body is tearing itself apart. His face begins to melt, and the supposed "god" can only scream in terrible pain. The Cleric of Chaos, Havik, then cruelly reveals that Reiko was never a candidate for godhood, and that his purpose was to be a vessel for a real god. - Who: Drahmin
- Notes: After the execution of his ally, Moloch, Drahmin pleads for his life to Quan Chi, reminding him that he has served him as his master torturer. However, Quan Chi ruthlessly kills Drahmin with his magic, leaving nothing but glowing bones that the sorcerer crushes under his heel.

- Who: Sektor
- Notes: Character taunts Sub-Zero, telling him he can't counter oxyhydro fuel burning at three thousand degrees, only then to get his arms cut off by materialized ice swords after an evasive maneuver, followed by Sub-Zero ripping off his head.
- Initiate Auto-Destruct sequence. Begin countdown. You're the master now, Sub-Zero. Make it count.
- Who: Cyrax
- Notes: As the last original cyber-ninja, the other units then declare him their leader, but instead he initiates a self-destruct protocol, telling Sub-Zero that he's the only one who can restore the Lin Kuei's lost honor and that the clan needs a clean slate, without him. Cyrax then perishes in the following explosion.

editMortal Kombat (1995)
edit- No, Sonya, don't! Please! Come on, give me a break!
- Who: Kano
- Notes: Sonya grabs Kano using her legs. She then kills him by breaking his neck.
- This puny mortal will be no problem. I'll crush him in one blow!
- Who: Goro
- Notes: Character is about to attack Johnny Cage, but the latter does his Crotch Punch, leaving Goro temporarily vulnerable. Cage then lures him to the narrow edge of a steep cliff. Cage fends off Goro, who falls off the cliff to his death.
- Never!
- Who: Shang Tsung
- Notes: Character charges at Liu Kang, who begins raining blows after blows after blows on Shang Tsung all the way to the edge of the precipice and shot a fireball sending him falling into a pit of spikes, and dies. Due to his death, the souls he had captured return to the Heavens, including Liu Kang's younger brother.
- This is not good.
- Who: Johnny Cage
- Notes: Character tries to attack Shao Kahn with his Shadow Kick, but the latter blocks it. Shao Kahn then kills Cage by snapping his neck. This death causes anger to Sonya Blade.
- Suckers!
- Who: Scorpion
- Notes: Character has a brief appearance in the film. He fights Sub-Zero (younger one), and knocks him on the floor. The attack was merely a diversion as Scorpion grabs Kitana, and kidnaps her while disappearing. Character does not die, these are his last lines and does not appear for the rest of the movie, although he is briefly seen again one last time when Liu Kang is doing one of Nightwolf's tests in a dream state.
- What's happened here should prove you alone are not ready for what's ahead.
- Who: Sub-Zero (Young Version)
- Notes: Character says this after fighting Scorpion, who had kidnapped Kitana. Sub-Zero warns Liu Kang that he is not strong enough to face Shao Kahn yet, and exhorts him to continue on to find the shaman, Nightwolf, before pursuing them. Like Scorpion, the character doesn't die, but does not appear for the rest of the film.
- Death is the only way out. Major Briggs, Sonya Blade. Shao Kahn will be pleased.
- Who: Cyrax
- Notes: Cyrax fights Jax and Sonya. Sonya defeats Cyrax, but as a last resort, enters self-destruct mode, and the two escape just before the complex explodes.
- It will never happen again.
- Who: Rain
- Notes: Shao Kahn knocks the character into a fire pit for not killing Kabal and Stryker (who never appear onscreen).
- The energies they waste with their sniveling, I will use to capture souls, for you.
- Who: Ermac
- Notes: Character says this early on in the film, shortly after Rain's death. This is his only official line in the entire movie. Unlike the others present at the final battle, Ermac is no longer seen speaking. He does battle with Sonya Blade. In the midst of the fight, he makes Noob Saibot "spawn" from his body (though whether it's really the actual character is unclear, as there is no mention of his name). Sonya is left at a disadvantage and yells to Jax for help. Jax then assists her just after his fight with Motaro. Sonya defeats Ermac by using her legs to snap his neck, echoing Kano's similar death from the first movie.
- You wish!
- Who: Mileena
- Notes: Character battles Sonya, who mistakes Mileena for Kitana. Sonya then kills her by doing a kick to the face.
- The date's over.
- Who: Sheeva
- Notes: Liu Kang and Kitana are about to escape, but Sheeva tries to prevent them from doing so. However, she is killed after being crushed by a falling cage. Originally, she was to have a fight scene with Raiden, but was cut during filming, and instead, Raiden fought several Reptile-like Raptor Warriors.
- We could never have stopped them alone.
- Who: Jade
- Notes: Shao Kahn has the character eaten by a living gargoyle, due to her failure at keeping the Earth Warriors from escaping.
- Without your weapons, you are no match for Motaro!
- Who: Motaro
- Notes: Character remarks Jax about his cybernetic arms, thinking he is defenseless. However, upon hearing Sonya cry for help, Jax gains the upper hand and defeats Motaro.
- Must I do everything for you?
- Who: Shinnok
- Notes: Character warned Shao Kahn about consequences for breaking the sacred rules. After Shao Kahn's defeat, Shinnok is banished to the Netherrealm by the Elder Gods.
- NOOOO!!!
- Who: Shao Kahn
- Notes: Shao Kahn gloats and taunts Liu Kang, which makes him angry. Liu Kang overpowers and defeats the Emperor, who dies when his corpse rots.
- I will take pleasure in ripping your flesh from your bones!
- Who: Moloch (Demon Torturer)
- Note: After Hanzo Hasashi frees himself from captivity, Moloch tries to kill Hanzo, but Hanzo easily takes him down and grabs one of his swords and slices him half, killing him.
- You dishonor this tournament!
- Who: Sub-Zero (Bi-Han)
- Note: Says this after he froze Kano’s guns while he was firing at Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, and Johnny Cage, then Sub-Zero kicks Kano off the arch and Scorpion then engages Sub-Zero in a fight easily overpowering him and then kills him throwing himself and Sub-Zero into a pit impaling themselves on a spike.
- Stay back! I’ll slit his throat!
- Who: Kano
- Note: After Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade defeat a horde of Outworlders, Kano threatens them both that he will kill Jax, But Jax bites Kano’s hand and Kano knocks out Jax with a punch. Sonya Blade then engages Kano in a fight eventually destroying his cyber-eye with a hammer. After Johnny and Sonya rescue Jax, Jax kills Kano by crushing his head with his foot.
- Soon, your weak species will be no more!
- Who: Goro
- Note: As Goro was trying to rip off Liu Kang’s arms like he did with Jax, Goro says this, before he could kill Liu Kang, Scorpion impales Goro through his skull with his kunai and rips it off his skin.
- My god... will avenge me!
- Who: Quan Chi
- Note: After being defeated and crippled by Scorpion in a fight, Quan Chi says these words before Scorpion replies: "Damn your god!", and proceeds to finish him by decapitating him and burning his corpse with flamebreath.
- Let’s see if these metal arms rip as easily as flesh.
- Who: Kintaro
- Note: Says this to Jax as he has overpowered him, Jax replies “Yeah, you do that.”, but before Kintaro could kill Jax, Jax turns the tables on Kintaro with his enhanced, cybernetic arms and overpowers him by ripping off his arms instead and then dies of blood loss shortly after that.
- I don’t know what you are, but it’s time to go back to the hell you came from!
- Who: Stryker
- Note: Says this after Shang Tsung takes his appearance, then Shang Tsung easily defeats Stryker and enters his body forcing him into a large spike and rips off Stryker’s head killing him.
- Your parents loved you Liu Kang, and s-
- Who: Raiden
- Note: After Shao Kahn defeats Raiden, he throws multiple spears into Raiden’s body and then after Shao Kahn says “Any last words?”, Raiden says these words to Liu Kang before Shao Kahn crushes Raiden’s neck killing him, but he was resurrected and given back his Godhood Powers at the film’s ending.
- That’s nothing compared to what I’m about to do.
- Who: Shao Kahn
- Note: Shao Kahn says these words as he is fighting Liu Kang, but Liu Kang was able to overpower Shao Kahn and eventually kicking him up into the air and kills Shao Kahn knocking him back down into the Coliseum shattering him into chunks of blood.
- You don’t deserve this.
- Who: Shinnok (One Being)
- Note: Says these words after Liu Kang severs his arm and leg. Liu Kang then vanishes Shinnok and the One Being from existence, separating the realms.
