How to Train Your Dragon 2

2014 animated film directed by Dean DeBlois

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (also known as How 2 Train Your Dragon) is a 2014 American 3D computer-animated action fantasy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures, loosely based on the book series of the same name by Cressida Cowell. It is the sequel to the 2010 computer-animated film How to Train Your Dragon and the second in the trilogy. The film is written and directed by Dean DeBlois. The film was released on June 13, 2014.

The film takes place five years after the first film, featuring Hiccup and his friends as young adults. DeBlois revealed in an interview about the story: "At the end of last film, all these Vikings who were previously somewhat landlocked are now on the backs of dragons so the entire Northern Hemisphere opens up to them. And with that Hiccup's curiosity increases, the map expands and inevitably they are going to come across new dragons, new cultures." Hiccup then "discovers a larger conflict brewing between humans and dragons and he finds himself at the center of it."

  • [first lines; narrating] This is Berk. The best kept secret this side of, well, anywhere. Granted, it may not look like much, but this wet heap of rock packs more than a few surprises. Life here is amazing, just not for the faint of heart. You see, where most folks enjoy hobbies like whittling or needlepoint, we Berkians prefer a little something we like to call... DRAGON RACING!
  • [narrating] Now dragons used to be a bit of a problem here, but that was 5 years ago. Now they've all moved in. And really, why wouldn't they? We have custom stables, "all you can eat" feeding stations, a full-service dragon wash, even top-of-the-line fire prevention, if I do say so myself.
  • [narrating] Yep, Berk is pretty much perfect. All my hard work has paid off. And it's a good thing too. Because with Vikings on the backs of dragons, the world just got a whole lot bigger.
  • What do you think, bud? You wanna give this another shot? [Toothless groans skeptically] Toothless! It'll be fine!
  • This is amazing!
  • [playing with Toothless] He's down! Ah, and it's ugly! Dragons and Vikings, enemies again! Locked in combat to the bitter...! [Toothless pins Hiccup, who moans in mock pain. Toothless then licks him repeatedly] Ugh! [jumps to his feet and wipes the drool off his clothes] You know that doesn't wash out! [Toothless laughs and Hiccup playfully flicks the excess drool at him]
  • [drawing a new spot on his map] So, what should we name it? [Toothless scratches under his arm with his snout] Itchy Armpit it is. [draws on his map some more] Whad'ya reckon, bud? Think we might find a few Timberjacks in those woods? The odd Whispering Death or two in the rocks? Who knows? Maybe we'll finally track down another Night Fury. Wouldn't that be something? So, whad'ya say? Just keep going? [Toothless gargles as if to say, "No."]
  • Dad, if Drago is coming for our dragons, we can't wait around for him to get here. Let's go find him, and change his mind!
  • [arguing with Stoick] I'm trying to protect our dragons and stop a war! How is that irresponsible?!
  • Don't worry, bud. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. I promise.
  • [to Valka, in the dragon cave] Who are you? The Dragon Thief? Uh, Drago Bludvist? [Valka doesn't answer] Do you even understand what I'm saying?
  • [to Drago, after he and his Bewilderbeast win the battle by killing Valka's Alpha Dragon] All of this loss, and for what? To become unstoppable, to rule the world?
  • [trying to reason with Drago] Dragons, they are kind, amazing creatures that can bring people together!
  • [to Toothless, who's being controlled by Drago's Bewilderbeast] Uh... What did he just tell you?
  • [Toothless, under the control of Drago's Bewilderbeast, advances toward Hiccup threateningly] Toothless, come on. What's the matter with you? No, no, no, no. Come on, what are you doing? Knock it off! STOP! SNAP OUT OF IT! Toothless, no! TOOTHLESS! DON'T!! STOOOOP!!! [sees Stoick running towards him] DAD!!! NO!!! [Stoick pushes him out of the way]
  • [to Toothless, after he unwillingly killed Stoick] NO! Get away from him! Go on, get out of here! Get away!
  • [to Toothless meanwhile is under control of Drago's Bewilderbeast] Toothless? Hey it’s me, I’m right here, bud. Come back to me... It wasn’t your fault, bud. They made you... do it. You would never hurt him, you would never hurt me! Please, you are my best friend, bud. My best friend...
  • [to Toothless, during the final battle] We can do this. You and me. As one.
  • [to Drago, during the final battle] Now do you get it? This is what it is to earn a dragon's loyalty! Let this end now!
  • [when Toothless successfully defeats Drago's Bewilderbeast, thus becoming the new Alpha Dragon] The Alpha protects them all!
  • [last lines; narrating] This is Berk. A bit trampled, and busted, and covered in ice, but it's home. It's our home. Those who attacked us are relentless and crazy, but those who stopped them - oh, even more so! We may be small in numbers, but we stand for something bigger than anything the world can pin against us. We are the voice of peace, and bit by bit, we will change this world. You see, we have something they don't. Oh, sure, they have armies, and they have armadas, but we... we have... OUR DRAGONS! [Toothless roars]

Valka

edit
  • Some of us were just born different.
  • [voice-over, in flashback] Then, one night, a dragon broke into our house, finding you in the cradle. I rushed to protect you, but what I saw was proof of everything I believed. This wasn't a vicious beast, but an intelligent, gentle creature, whose soul reflected my own.
  • You and your father nearly died that night, all because I couldn't kill a dragon.
  • [to Hiccup about Toothless] It's not his fault. You know that.
  • [after Drago and his Bewilderbeast win, taking all the dragons with them] Good dragons under the control of bad people do bad things.

Stoick the Vast

edit
  • Drago Bludvist is a madman, without conscience or mercy!
  • A chief protects his own.
  • Years ago, there was a great gathering of chieftains to discuss the dragon scourge we faced. Into our mist came a stranger from a strange land, covered in a cloak made of dragon skin. He carried no weapon and spoke softly, saying that he, Drago Bludvist, was a man of the people, devoted to freeing mankind from the tyranny of dragons. He claimed that he alone could control the dragons and that he alone could keep us safe, if we chose to bow down and follow him...
  • A man who kills without reason cannot be reasoned with.
  • [to Valka] You're as beautiful as the day I lost you.
  • [to Valka] For you, my dear, anything.
  • Will you come home, Val? Will you be my wife once again?
  • We're a team now. Now, what do you want to do?
  • [to Drago] It takes more than a little fire to kill me.
  • Hiccup! SON!!! [final words before getting blasted by the hypnotized Toothless while saving Hiccup]

Gobber

edit
  • [to Hiccup and Astrid] You know, you two are going to get yourselves into serious trouble one of these days. Not everybody appreciates this way of life.
  • [to Stoick, about Hiccup] He's only twenty. And a Viking! I mean, could there be a worst possible combination? Hah, I think about how stubborn and senseless you were back in the day. Though not that much has changed, actually.
  • Ah, nothing could hurt Hiccup as long as he has that Night Fury around. It's a NIGHT FURY!
  • [to Hiccup] This is why I never married. This, and one other reason.
  • [at Stoick's funeral] May the Valkyries welcome you and lead you through Odin's great battlefield. May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of kings. For a great man has fallen: A warrior. A chieftain. A father. A friend.
  • [riding a baby dragon] Some might suggest this is poorly conceived!
  • [when Hiccup is officially crowned Berk's new chieftain] The Chief has come home!

Drago Bludvist

edit
  • (To the chiefs in the Great Hall) Let's just see how well you do without me!
  • [after defeating Hookfang] You belong to me now.
  • [upon meeting Hiccup] This is the great Dragon Master? Son of Stoick the Vast? What shame he must feel.
  • [when his Bewilderbeast takes control of Toothless] No dragon can resist the Alpha's command. So he who controls, the alpha controls them all.
  • Witness true strength. The strength of will over others. In the face of it, you are nothing.

Eret Jr. (Son of Eret Sr.)

edit
  • [to Hiccup and Astrid] Dragon trapping is hard enough work without do-gooder dragon riders sneaking in to rescue them.
  • [to Stormfly] Thank you for saving my life. Now let me return the favor.
  • [riding a baby dragon] Have you forgotten who you're riding with? There isn't a dragon alive that I can't wrangle! WHOA! EXCEPT THIS ONE!

Others

edit
  • Snotlout: [to Ruffnut] Here you go, babe. Did I tell you that you look amazing today? 'Cause you do.
  • Ruffnut: Watch it! That was close... [sees Eret; in slow motion] Oh, my... [Eret flexes his muscles] Me likey. [Eret shoots the dragon trap at Barf and Belch, the Zippleback she and Tuffnut are riding] Take me.
  • Astrid: [to Hiccup, during the final battle] Take 'em down, babe!

Dialogue

edit
[During the Dragon Race, after Snotlout intentionally gives the Twins a sheep in an effort to impress Ruffnut]
Astrid: [hits Snotlout on the helmet] What are you doing, Snotlout?ǃ They're gonna win now!
Snotlout: She's my princess! Whatever she wants, she gets!
Astrid: Ruffnut? Didn't she try to bury you alive?
Snotlout: Only for a few hours!

[Astrid and Stormfly arrive at Itchy Armpit]
Hiccup: Afternoon, milady. Where have you been?
Astrid: Oh, winning races. What else? Real question is, where have you been?
Hiccup: Avoiding my dad.
Astrid: Oh, no. What happened now?
Hiccup: Oh, you're gonna-- you're gonna love this. I wake up, the sun is shining, Terrible Terrors are singing on the rooftop. I saunter down to breakfast thinking all is right with the world and I get... [imitates Stoick] "Son, we need to talk."
Astrid: [imitates Hiccup] Not now, Dad! I got a whole day of goofing off to get started!
Hiccup: [laughs] What? Okay, first of all, I-I don't sound like that. Who-- what is this character? A-and second, what is that thing you're doing with my shoulders? Yeah, that's a truly flattering impersonation. [Astrid laughs] Anyway, he goes... [imitates Stoick] ..."You're the pride of Berk, son, and I couldn't be prouder."
Astrid: [imitates Hiccup] Aw, thanks, Dad! I'm pretty impressed with myself, too!
Hiccup: [laughs] Wh-when have I ever done that with my hands?
Astrid: You just did! [laughs]
Hiccup: [exasperatedly but lightheartedly] Ah, okay! Just... [grips Astrid's arms] Just hold still! [holds her hands] Very serious. [imitates Stoick] "You're all grown up. And since no chief could ask for a better successor, I've decided–"
Astrid: [interrupts] To make you Chief! Oh, my gods! Hiccup, that's AMAZING! [playfully punches Hiccup in the chest, accidentally hitting the button that releases the back fin of his flight suit]
Hiccup: OH! You're going to wear out the spring coil. The calibration is very sensitive. [winds the fin back into his flight suit then Toothless and Stormfly come running past chasing each other and knock over Astrid and Hiccup] Yeah, so... This is what I'm dealing with.
Astrid: What'd you tell him?
Hiccup: I-I didn't. By the time he turned around I was gone.
Astrid: Huh, well... that's a lot of responsibility. The map will have to wait, for sure, and I'll need to fly Toothless since you'll be too busy, but...
[Astrid realizes what she just said]
Hiccup: I-It's not me, Astrid. All those speeches and planning and running the village, that's his thing.
Astrid: I think you're missing the point. I mean, Chief. What an honor. I'd be pretty excited.
Hiccup: I... I'm not like you. You... know exactly who you are. You always have. I'm still looking. I know that I'm not my father, and I've never met my mother, so... what does that make me?
[Hiccup sits down and gazes off into space. Astrid sits down beside him and starts braiding his hair]
Astrid: What you're searching for isn't out there, Hiccup. [puts her hand to Hiccup's chest] It's in here.

Eret: [shows Hiccup and Astrid, his scar under his shirt] This is what he gave me last time I showed up empty-handed. [Hiccup and Astrid looked in disgust at Eret's scar] He promised to be far less understanding in the future.
Hiccup: Look, we don't know anything about a dragon thief, or an ice-spitting dragon. [Eret nods to his men hidden behind Hiccup and Astrid] Or your lunatic boss and his dragon army, okay? Just give us back our dragon and we'll go, Strange-Hostile-Person-Whom-We've-Never-Met.
Eret: [chuckles] Oh, where are my manners? I'm Eret, Son of Eret. [drags his dagger] Finest dragon trapper alive. After all, it's not just anyone who can capture a Night Fury.
[Toothless roars]
Hiccup: And this is Toothless. He says we're going, now.
Eret: [laughs] Heh. They all say that. [to the trappers] Rush 'em, lads!
[The hidden dragon trappers attack. Toothless fires at a large icicle that falls on the dragon trappers and keeps them back. They shout and jump away.]
Ug: Oh, Watch out!
[Hiccup pulls out Inferno and cuts the net off of Stormfly.]
Astrid: Stormfly! Come on, go! Go!
[Astrid barely manages to escape on Stormfly, with Toothless and Hiccup following]
Eret: YOU WILL NEVER HOLD ON TO THOSE DRAGONS!!! YOU HEAR ME?! DRAGO IS COMING FOR THEM ALL!!!

Tuffnut: [about Drago] I'll bloody his fist with my face if he tries to take my dragon!
Ruffnut: Or mine!
Tuffnut: [annoyed] Eh, you're such a moron.
Fishlegs: [pokes Ruffnut seductively] A beautiful moron.
Snotlout: [also pokes Ruffnut seductively] Yeah.
[Ruffnut groans, irritated and disgusted]

[In the dragon cave, Valka reaches out to touch Hiccup and sees the scar on his chin]
Valka: [in shocked recognition] Hiccup?
Hiccup: Uh...
Valka: [removes her helmet] Could-could it be? After all these years? How is this possible?
Hiccup: [perplexed] Uh, should I-- Should I know you?
Valka: [ashamed] No. You were only a babe. [Hiccup stares at her] But a mother never forgets.
[A startled Hiccup gasps]

Hiccup: [follows Valka through the cave] Hold-hold on! Wait just a minute!
Valka: This way!
Hiccup: Come back here!
Valka: Come!
Hiccup: You can't just say something like that and run off! You're my MOTHER?! I mean, what the--?! Do you-- do you grasp how insane it sounds?!
Valka: Come! Quickly!
Hiccup: I have questions! Where have you been all this time? What-what have you been doing? Huh? But they-they said you were dead! Everyone thinks you were eaten by-- [finally exits the cave, sees Valka's dragon sanctuary, and is overcome by its beauty]

Hiccup: [to Valka, about the dragon sanctuary] This is where you've been for 20 years? [Valka nods] You've been rescuing them. [Valka nods again] Unbelievable.
Valka: You're not upset?
Hiccup: What? No! I don't know. It's a bit much to get my head around, to be frank. It's not every day you find out your mother is some kind of... crazy, feral, vigilante, dragon lady.
Valka: Oh. [chuckles as Cloudjumper helps her down] Well... At least I'm not boring. Right?
Hiccup: Well I suppose there is that...one...specific thing.

Valka: [meeting Toothless] Oh, he's beautiful! [pets him] Incredible! He might very well be the last of his kind. And look! [counts his chin flaps] He's your age!
Hiccup: Wow.
Valka: No wonder you get along so well! [notices Toothless's retractable teeth] And retractable teeth! How did you manage to...?
Hiccup: [awkwardly] I found him in the woods. He was... shot down and wounded.
Valka: [goes to various disabled dragons] This Snafflefang lost his leg to one of Drago Bludvist's iron traps. This Raincutter had her wing sliced by razor netting, and this poor Hobblegrunt was blinded by a tree snare and then left to die alone and scared. [sees Toothless's prosthetic tail fin] And what of this? Did Drago or his trappers do this, too?
Hiccup: [gives an embarrassed laugh] Oh, yeah. Well, crazy thing is... I'm actually the one who... shot him down. [Valka gives him a puzzled look] Hey, it's okay, though! He got me back! [to Toothless] Right, bud? You couldn't save all of me, could you? You just had to make it even, so peg leg! [shows Valka his prosthetic leg]

Hiccup: [after Valka tells her story] How did you survive?
Valka: Oh, Cloudjumper never meant to harm me. He... must've thought I belonged here. [shows Hiccup the Bewilderbeast] In the home of the great Bewilderbeast. The alpha species. One of the very few that still exist. Every nest has its queen, but this is the king of all dragons. With his icy breath, this graceful giant built our nest, a safe haven for dragons everywhere.
Hiccup: [surprised] Wait, that's the ice-spitter? He's responsible for all that destruction?
Valka: He protects us. We all live under his care and his command. [a group of baby dragons gang up on Toothless] All but the babies, of course. [Cloudjumper scares them off and they fly away to pester the Bewilderbeast; laughs] ...Who listen to no one!

Astrid: I don't like it. They should have been back with Hiccup by now.
Ruffnut: I don't like it either. Eret, Son of Eret was the man of my dreams. My everything!
Snotlout: [touches his beard] But baby, I grew facial hair for you.
Fishlegs: [also touches his beard] Me, too...
Astrid: What if Drago shot them down? What if they need our help? We have to find them.
Fishlegs: W-wait, What? No, But Stoick said...
Astrid: [cuts him off] It doesn't matter what he said, if they’ve all been captured. Come on!

Valka: [to Hiccup; proudly] All this time, you took after me. [guilty] And where was I? I'm so sorry, Hiccup. Can we start over? Will you give me another chance? [Hiccup gently smiles as if to forgive her] I... I can teach all that I've learned these past 20 years! Like... [presses her fingers into Toothless's neck, making his back spikes split in half]
Hiccup: Wow.
Valka: Now you can make those tight turns!
Hiccup: [to Toothless] Did you know about this?
Valka: [laughs] Every dragon has its secrets, and I'll show them all to you! We'll unlock every mystery, find every last species together, as mother and son! [she and Hiccup laugh as they watch their dragons play] This gift we share, Hiccup, it bonds us. This is who you are, son. Who we are, and we can change the world for all dragons and we'll make it a better, safer place.
Hiccup: [excitedly] Yeah! I mean, that sounds... amazing!
[Overjoyed, Valka hugs a surprised Hiccup, who quickly returns the embrace]

Eret: [to Drago, after the Dragon Riders have been captured] They won't know where you're hiding, I promise you that.
Astrid: Oh, yes, they will! They know we're missing and they have tracking dragons. If you so much as touch us, Hiccup is gonna kick...
Drago: Hiccup?
Eret: He's no problem, really. Trust me.
Astrid: He's only the son of Stoick the Vast, his heir to the throne of Berk, and the greatest Dragon Master this world has ever seen!
Drago: Dragon Master? I alone control the dragons!
Tuffnut: Nope, mm-mm.
Fishlegs: SORRY!
[The Dragon Riders laugh]
Astrid: [defiantly] And unless you let us go, right now... he will blast through here on his Night Fury, and blow your entire fleet ships to SPLINTERS.
Ruffnut: Yeah, and then you'll be crying like babies!

[Stoick and Gobber find Hiccup and Toothless at the dragon sanctuary. Stoick grabs Hiccup by the arm and drags him through the cave.]
Hiccup: Wait, wait! Dad, there is something you need to know!
Stoick: [not really listening] Yeah, yeah. Tell me on the way.
Hiccup: No, this isn't an "on the way" kind of update, actually.
Stoick: [stubbornly] I've heard enough!
Hiccup: More of the earth-shattering-development variety.
Stoick: Yeah, just add it to the pile.
Hiccup: Dad, unlike most surprises I spring on you, this is one you'll like. I promise. You just have to handle it delicately. So...
[They reach a stunned Gobber.]
Gobber: [to Stoick, stupefied] Uh, you might want to take this one.
Stoick: Huh? [draws his sword]
Gobber: Oh, boy.
Hiccup: [fearful] Oh. Uh, Dad, could you put the sword away, please?
[Stoick finally sees Valka and gasps, unbelieving and astonished. Gobber and Hiccup watch as Stoick drops his sword, removes his helmet, and slowly, silently advances toward Valka.]
Valka: [strong at first, but growing more nervous as Stoick draws closer] I know what you're gonna say, Stoick. How could I have done this? Stayed away all these years and why didn't I come back to you, to our son? Well, what sign did I have that you could change, Stoick, that anyone on Berk could? I pleaded so many times to stop the fighting, to find another answer, but did any of you listen?
Gobber: [aside, to Hiccup] This is why I never married. This and one other reason.
Valka: [very nervous] I know that I left you to raise Hiccup alone, but I thought he'd be better off without me, and I was wrong. I see that now, but... [nervously backs up against the wall; on the verge of tears] Oh, stop being so stoic, Stoick! Go on! Shout, scream, SAY SOMETHING!
[Stoick touches Valka's cheek. She stares at him in fear.]
Stoick: [also on the verge of tears] You're as beautiful as the day I lost you!
[Valka quietly weeps in relief; Stoick softly kisses her. A relieved and overjoyed Hiccup smiles.]

[Eret and the Dragon Riders (minus Hiccup) are about to be thrown off a ship into ice water.]
Snotlout: Could this day get any worse?
Tuffnut: Uh, let me see - we're gonna jump into freezing cold water, and then die from drowning.
Eret: [sarcastically] Looks refreshing.

[Stoick begins to whistle a song, which Valka remembers.]
Gobber: Oh, I love this one.
Stoick: Remember our song, Val. [singing] I’ll swim and sail on savage seas. With ne'er a fear of drowning. And gladly ride the waves of life. If you will marry me. No scorching sun, nor freezing cold will st— [Gobber sings and interrupts]
Gobber: [singing] WILL STOP ME ON MY JOUR—ney. Sorry. [Hiccup looks upset at Gobber's interruption]
Stoick: [singing] If you will promise me your heart. And love...
Valka: [singing] ...And love me for eternity. My dearest one, my darling dear, your mighty words astound me. But I’ve no need of mighty deeds when I feel your arms around me.
Stoick: [singing] But I would bring you rings of gold, I'd even sing you poetry!
Valka: Oh, would you?
Stoick: [singing] And I would keep you from all harm. If you would stay beside me!
Valka: [singing] I have no use for rings of gold, I care not for your poetry. I only want your hand to hold...
Stoick: [singing] I only want you near me!
Stoick and Valka: [singing] To love and kiss, to sweetly hold! For the dancing and the dreaming! Through all life’s sorrows and delights, I’ll keep your laugh inside me! I’ll swim and sail on savage seas with ne'er a fear of drowning! And gladly ride the waves of life, if you will marry me!
Gobber: [singing] Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, I'm still goiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnng!
Hiccup: [nudges Gobber's belly] Gobber.
Gobber: I'm done.

Hiccup: [to Eret, who's riding on Stormfly with Astrid] Welcome aboard, Dragon Rider!
Eret: Thanks! I think!
Astrid: Where have you been?
Hiccup: Oh, you know. Catching up with Mom.
Eret: [looking up] Whoa!
[Hiccup looks up. Astrid follows his gaze and sees Valka on Cloudjumper, summoning her Bewilderbeast]
Astrid: [aghast] That's your mother?!
Hiccup: [smiles] Well, now you know where I get my dramatic flair. [flies off]

[Drago is knocked away from attacking Valka and sees Stoick]
Valka: Thank you.
Stoick: For you my dear, anything. [Refers to dueling alphas] You think you can stop them?
Valka: I'll do my best. [Frees Cloudjumper] Come on Cloudjumper!
Drago: I watched you burn!
Stoick: It takes more than a little fire to kill me! [Attacks Drago]

[Hiccup confronts Drago]
Hiccup: STOP!
Drago: [chuckles] This is the great dragon master? The son of Stoick the Vast? What shame he must feel.
Hiccup: All of this loss, and for what? To become unstoppable? To rule the world? Dragons, they are kind, amazing creatures that can bring them together.
Drago: Or tear them apart! [reveals a stump underneath his prosthetic arm, unnerving Hiccup] You see, I know what it is to live in fear. To see my village burned. My family taken. But even as a boy, left with nothing, I vowed to rise above the fear of dragons, and liberate the people of this world.
Hiccup: Then why a dragon army?
Drago: Well, you need dragons to conquer other dragons.
Hiccup: Or maybe you need dragons to conquer people. To control those who follow you. And to get rid of those who won't.
Drago: [chuckles] Clever boy.
Hiccup: The world wants peace. And we have the answer back on Berk. Just let me show you.
Drago: NO! Let ME show YOU! [uses the Dragon Scream to his Bewilderbeest]
Stoick: What in... [As Drago's Dragon Scream continues, Stoick looks at them] Hiccup! Come on, Gobber!
Gobber: Okay, change of plan.
Drago: No dragon can resist the Alpha's command. So he who controls the Alpha, controls them all.
[Drago commands the Alpha to take control of Toothless, who starts screaming and thrashing in pain]
Hiccup: Toothless? You okay, bud? What’s going on?
Drago: Witness true strength. The strength of will over others. [As Toothless' eyes turned ferocious eyes] In the face of it, you are nothing!
[Drago's bullhook points to Hiccup, The Alpha controls Toothless and turns to Hiccup.]
Hiccup: Uh, what did he just tell you? [Stoick continue to run, and getting closer to Hiccup.] Toothless, what’s the matter with you? What're you doing? Knock it off! Stop! Snap out of it! [Stoick continue to run, and throws the axe and the ship collapses, running through the pole, and jumps down] Toothless! No! Toothless! [The mind-controlled Toothless charges a plasma blast, preparing to kill Hiccup] DON'T!
Stoick: HICCUP!
Hiccup: STOOOOOOOPPP!
Stoick: SON!!!!
Hiccup: DAD!! NO!!!
[Stoick jumps in front of Hiccup and takes the shot, being killed instantly. Valka gasps, Drago looks at Stoick and he's dead. Hiccup checks what's Stoick's dead body]
Hiccup: Dad!
Valka: [gasps] Stoick!
[Then, Astrid, Snotlot, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Eret checks in Stoick's body, and he's dead. Then, Toothless stop controlling, His eyes widen once more and he goes to Stoick's body and takes his hand.]
Hiccup: No! Get away from him! GO ON! GET OUT OF HERE! GET AWAY!
Valka: It's not his fault. You know that.
[The Alpha takes control of the dragons again. All their pupils shrink into slits as the Alpha takes command of their will.]
Valka: Good dragons under the control of bad people do bad things.
[Toothless, controlled by the Bewilderbeast, tries to fly. Drago subdues him with his bullhook and forcibly rides him.]
Drago: Gather the men and meet me at Berk!
Hiccup: TOOTHLESS!
Valka: Don't!
Drago: Everyone, move out!
[Drago and his Bewilderbeast head towards Berk, while his men prepare to sail. All the dragons follow as well.]

[at Stoick's funeral]
Gobber: May the Valkyries welcome you and lead you through Odin's great battlefield. May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of kings. For a great man has fallen: A warrior. A chieftain. A father. A friend.

[At Stoick's funeral]
Hiccup: [regretfully] Sorry, Dad. I'm not the chief that you wanted me to be and I'm not the peacekeeper I thought I was. I... don't know...
Valka: You came early into this world. You were such a wee thing. So frail and so fragile. I feared that you wouldn't make it, but your father, he never doubted. He always said you would become the strongest of them all, and he was right. You have the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon. Only you can bring our worlds together. That is who you are, son.
Hiccup: I uh... I was so afraid of becoming my dad. Mostly because I thought I never could. How do you become someone that great, that brave, that selfless? I guess you can only try. A chief protects his own. We're going back.
Tuffnut: Uh... With what?
Ruffnut: Uh... He took all the dragons.
Hiccup: Not all of them...

[Hiccup returns to Berk to defeat Drago and save Toothless and his people]
Drago: You certainly are hard to get rid of, I'll say that.
Hiccup: [trying to bring Toothless out of his trance] Toothless? Hey, it's me, bud. It's me. It's me, I'm right here, bud. Come back to me.
Drago: [chuckles evilly] He's not yours anymore. He belongs to the Alpha! [mockingly] But please, O great Dragon Master, try to take him. He will not miss a second time.
Hiccup: It wasn't your fault, bud. They... made you do it. You'd never hurt him. You'd never hurt me!
[Hiccup puts a hand on Toothless's head; Toothless immediately starts to calm down]
Drago: [shocked] How are you doing that?
Hiccup: [in tears] Please, you... are my best friend, bud... My best friend...
[Toothless breaks alpha's control]
Hiccup: Atta boy! I'm here!
Drago: ENOUGH! [Tries to attack Toothless but is flung off instead]
Hiccup: YEAAA! [Overjoyed]

[Toothless breaks out of ice and challenges Drago's Bewilderbeast]
Hiccup: He's challenging the alpha!
Valka: To protect you!

Eret: [approaches Hiccup after he saves Berk] That was some pretty fine dragon wrangling back there. You'd make a good trapper. [Skullcrusher nudges him playfully] Whoa! [laughs]
Hiccup: You know, Skullcrusher's gonna need somebody to look after him now.
Eret: [surprised] Me? [Hiccup nods] I'd be honored.
Valka: [comes over to Hiccup] Your father would be every bit as proud of you as I am.
Hiccup: Thank you. I'm really glad you're here, Mom.
Valka: And here I'll stay.
Astrid: [walks up to Hiccup] See? I told you that it was in here. [points to his heart and then presses the button which releases the fin in his back]
Hiccup: [laughs] Still doing that one. That's hilarious. Come here, you. [kisses Astrid]
