Hot Cross Bunny

1948 film by Robert McKimson

Hot Cross Bunny is a 1948 Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies theatrical animated short. The title is a play on the nursery rhyme Hot Cross Buns as well as a punny allusion to the basic plot premise. In the short, a doctor plans to switch the characteristics of a chicken into the brain and a rabbit, into each other.

Dialogue edit

Bugs Bunny: HALT! One more step and I'll blow ya up! This contains manganese, nitrate, phosphorous, lactic acid and dextrose!
Scientist: [laughs] That is the formula for a chocolate malted! [laughs more]
Bugs Bunny: [looks at the beaker, drinks it] Yum yum! I'm a better scientist than I thought!

Doctor: [the experiment results in him changing bodies with the chicken] In our next experiment we shall reverse the procedure - I hope.
Bugs Bunny: Looks like Doc is a victim of fowl play. [laughs]
