Hasan al-Askari

eleventh of the Twelve Shia Imams

Hasan ibn ‘Alī al-‘Askarī (Arabic: حسن بن علي العسكري‎; 846874 AD) was the eleventh Twelver Shī‘ah Imām. He was the son of ‘Alī an-Naqī and was the ninth generation grandson of Muhammad.

The al-‘Askarī Mosque entombs the graves of Hasan al-‘Askarī and his father ‘Alī an-Naqī in Sāmarrā', Iraq.
