Song lyrics
editAbandoned Luncheonette (1973)
edit- Everybody's high on consolation.
Everybody's trying to tell me what is right for me, yeah.
My daddy tried to bore me with a sermon.
But it's plain to see that they can't comfort me.
- She's gone, she's gone,
Oh I, oh I
I better learn how to face it.
She's gone, she's gone,
Oh I, oh I
I'd pay the devil to replace her.
She's gone, and she's gone.
Oh why, what went wrong?- "She's Gone"
Daryl Hall & John Oates (1975)
edit- When I feel cold, you warm me.
And when I feel I can't go on,
You come and hold me.
It's you and me forever.Sara, smile.
Oh, won't you smile awhile for me, Sara.
Bigger Than Both of Us (1976)
edit- You're a rich girl, and you've gone too far
Cause you know it don't matter anyway.
You can rely on the old man's money,
You can rely on the old man's money.
It's a bitch, girl, but it's gone too far,
Cause you know it don't matter anyway.
Say money but it won't get you too far,
Get you too far.- "Rich Girl", written by Daryl Hall
- You could go either way.
Is it easier to stay?
I wonder what you'll do
When your chance rolls around.
But you gotta know how much I want to keep you.
When I'm away I'm afraid it will all fall down.
Please, wait for me (Wait for me).- "Wait for Me", writen by Daryl Hall
- When they insist on knowing my bliss,
I tell them this.
When they want to know what the reason is,
I only smile when I lie, then I tell them why.Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list.
Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list.
Because your kiss is on my list of the best things in life.
Because your kiss, your kiss is on my list.
Because your kiss, your kiss I can't resist.
Because your kiss is what I miss when I turn out the light.- "Kiss on My List", written by Janna Allen and Daryl Hall
- What I want, you've got,
But it might be hard to handle.
Like the flame that burns the candle.
The candle feeds the flame yeah yeah.
What I got -- full stock of thoughts and dreams that scatter
And you pull them all together.
And how? I can't explain, oh yeah.Well well you (ooh ooh ooh ooh)
You make my dreams come true (you you) you (you you)
Well well well you (ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Oh yeah you make my dreams come true
(ooh oooh ooh ooh) hell yeah.- "You Make My Dreams", written by Sara Allen, Daryl Hall, and John Oates
- Go on and go free;
Maybe you're too close to see.
I can feel your body move,
But doesn't mean that much to me.
I can't go on singing the same theme,
'Cause you can't see we've got everything
Baby, even though you know. That everytime you go away,
You take a piece of me with you.
You just don't care.
Everytime you go away,
You take a piece of me with you, you.- "Everytime You Go Away", written by Daryl Hall
Private Eyes (1981)
edit- You play with words, you play with love.
You can twist it around, baby, that ain't enough.
Cause girl, I'm going to know
If you're letting me in or letting me go.
Don't lie when you're hurting inside,
Cause you can't escape myPrivate eyes.
They're watching you.
They see your every move, baby.- "Private Eyes", written by Sara Allen, Janna Allen, Daryl Hall, and Warren Pash
- Easy, ready, willing, overtime.
Where does it stop,
Where do you dare me
To draw the line?
You've got the body,
Now you want my soul.
Don't even think about it
Say, no go.I'll do anything
That you want me to do.
Yeah, I'll do almost anything
That you want me too, ooh.
Yeah.But I can't go for that, no,
No can do.
I can't go for that, no,
No can do.- "I Can't Go for That", written by Sara Allen, Daryl Hall, and John Oates
- If you're not an easy mark,
It's a shot in the dark that hits the heart.
And I know, I know, I know, I know when it's coming.
I thought so anyway.
Some things stay the same,
And some are due for change.
I thought I had them all nailed down,
But you turned it around.Oh, you did it, you did it, you did it, you did it.
You did it in a minute, you did it.- "Did It in a Minute", written by Sara Allen, Janna Allen, and Daryl Hall
- She'll only come out at night,
The lean and hungry type.
Nothing is new,
I've seen her here before.
Watching and waiting.
Ooh, she's sitting with you, but her eyes are on the door.
So many have paid to see what you think you're getting for free.
The woman is wild, a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar.
Money's the matter.
If you're in it for love, you ain't gonna get too far.(Oh-oh, here she comes)
Watch out, boy, she'll chew you up
(Oh-oh, here she comes)
She's a maneater.- "Maneater", written by Daryl Hall, John Oates, and Sara Allen
- I'm tired of playing on the team;
It seems I don't get time out anymore.
What a change if we set the pace face to face,
No one even trying to score.
Oh oh I can feel the magic of your touch,
And when you move in close a little bit means so much.
Ooh yeah, you've got to understand baby,
Time out is what I'm here for.One on one I wanna play that game tonight.
One on one I know I wanna play that
One on one I wanna play that game tonight
One on one so slow.- "One on One", written by Daryl Hall
Big Bam Boom (1984)
edit- Shake it up is all that we know,
Using the bodies up as we go.
I'm waking up to fantasy.
The shades all around aren't the colors we used to see.
Broken ice still melts in the sun
And times that are broken can often be one again
We're soul alone,
And soul really matters to me.
Take a look around. You're out of touch,
I'm out of time.
But I'm out of my head
When you're not around.
