Gears of War

Gears of War is a 2006 horror/sci-fi 3rd-person shooter game developed by Epic Games. The story takes place on a planet known as Sera, where a war-torn human civilization fights against overwhelming numbers of subterranean creatures bent on exterminating mankind.

Locust Queen

• They do not understand. They do not know why we wage this war. Why we cannot stop. Will not stop. Why we will fight and fight and fight. Until we win, or we die... and we are not dead yet.

Colonel Hoffman

• Earlier today your Gears successfully deployed the Lightmass Bomb. We have destroyed the enemy stronghold. This war has exacted a heavy price from all of us. It has torn our world apart. But, you have my word that we will rise again! (There's a lot of cheering in the background)

Dialogue

[After a large attack from Locusts]

Anthony Carmine: What the hell, man; those holes could pop up anywhere!

Marcus Fenix: You think we would find some sort of god-damned defense by now.

Dominic Santiago: Command tried everything, but nothing's worked so far. If the Locusts want to come up, they come up.

Anthony Carmine: I used to have nightmares about those things when I was a kid.

Dominic Santiago: Shit, I still do...

[Dominic frees Marcus from prison]

Dominic Santiago: Jack, rip that door! (Jack rips door).

Marcus Fenix: What are you doin' here?

Dominic Santiago: Getting you out. Here. Put this on. You'll need it. (Throws a bag with a COG military uniform).

Marcus Fenix: You could get into a lot of trouble for doin' this.

Dominic Santiago: Not anymore. Things have changed... We better go.

Marcus Fenix: What about the other prisoners? We can't just leave them here.

Dominic Santiago: They're gone. Hoffman pardoned everybody.

Marcus Fenix: Is that right?

Dominic Santiago: Welcome back to the army, soldier.

Marcus Fenix: Shit.

[Marcus and Dom on their way to Embry Square]

Minh Young Kim: Welcome to Delta Squad.

Marcus Fenix: Where are we going?

Minh Young Kim: Embry Square. Colonel Hoffman's waiting for us.

Marcus Fenix: Hoffman? Ah, shit.

Dominic Santiago: This is gonna be awesome.

Anthony Carmine: Hey, are you the Marcus Fenix? The one who fought at Aspho Fields?

Marcus Fenix: Yep.

Anthony Carmine: Wow! cool! (Starts shooting with an Lancer).

Marcus Fenix: Not really.

[A serious conversation with Hoffman and a battle with Locust]

Colonel Hoffman: You! A traitor like you doesn't deserve to wear the uniform.

Marcus Fenix: Looks to me like you need all the help you can get.

Colonel Hoffman: Step aside... Lieutenant! I've got good news. We have a plan to end this war, once and for all.

Dominic Santiago: Yeah, right.

Anya Stroud: Sensors are picking up enemy movement, sir. Close by.... (A prolonged look from Marcus and Anya).

Dominic Santiago: Locust!

Minh Young Kim: Take cover!

Marcus Fenix: Move!

Dominic Santiago: Shit!

Marcus Fenix: To the right!

Colonel Hoffman: We now have the Lightmass Bomb! I'll take out all these bastards with one shot!

Marcus Fenix: Up high!

Colonel Hoffman: But it can't work if we don't have the targeting data!

Colonel Hoffman: That's why we need the resonator!

Marcus Fenix: Watch the sides.

Dominic Santiago: You missed!

Colonel Hoffman: It'll map their tunnels, so that we can hit those sons of bitches where they live!

Marcus Fenix: Now i'm pissed! (Shooting the Locust) Oh yeah!

Dominic Santiago: Up there!

Marcus Fenix: How much can they take!

Colonel Hoffman: We've lost contact with Alpha Squad. Last transmission was from Embry Square.

Dominic Santiago: Down to four!

Colonel Hoffman: I want you to get in there, find those men, and deploy that resonator!

Minh Young Kim: Will we have air support?

Colonel Hoffman: What, are you kidding? You are the support, son! Nemacyst are keeping our birds out of the area! You'll have to move in on foot!

Dominic Santiago: We're screwed.

Marcus Fenix: Down to two!

(The shooting is over).

Marcus Fenix: All clear.

Colonel Hoffman: But the lieutenant here will be feeding you intel!

Anya Stroud: Yes, sir. And the smart thing to do right now would be to leave.

Colonel Hoffman: You! Get it done.

Marcus Fenix: That was satisfying.

Colonel Hoffman: I expect you to give me 110 percent, Fenix.

Marcus Fenix: I'm not doing this for you.

[Meeting with Cole Train]

Augustus Cole: Yeah! That was beautiful, baby!

Minh Young Kim: State your name, soldier.

Augustus Cole: Private Augustus Cole. Alpha Squad, sir.

Dominic Santiago: Cole? As in the Cole Train?

Augustus Cole: Yeah, that's right.

Minh Young Kim: Where's the rest of your squad?

Augustus Cole: They're sitting tight over in the Tomb.

Minh Young Kim: We're Delta Squad. We're here to retrieve the sonic device.

Marcus Fenix: And to get you guys outta here.

Augustus Cole: Well, hell yeah! We been waitin' for the chopper, but the radio don't work for shit! Sir.

Dominic Santiago: We noticed.

Augustus Cole: It's the Seeders. they're jammin' our transmissions.

Marcus Fenix: Then we have to make those Seeders our top priority, sir.

Minh Young Kim: Agreed. We need to reestablish the radio contact with Control. ASAP.
