Summary

Description

Poseokjeong (Pavilion of Stone Abalone) used to be a grand royal garden, but like most other historical relics in Silla, is long gone. Its only remnant is this stone waterway, used to float wine glasses for the nobles.

Yes, Silla's glassmaking was quite advanced, based on what I could gather - the techniques having been obtained via trade with faraway lands via the Silk Road.

In the later days of Silla, drinking games were played here. Glasses would float down the waterway at different speeds based on the shape of the glass and the amount of wine inside; anyone who could not provide a suitable line of poetry during one revolution of the glass would have to drink the glass and try again.

I have to say that with poor signage and little remaining around here, I felt quite cheated to come in here. It had cost me ₩500 for admissions and another ₩2,000 for parking - not a lot of money but nevertheless even less to see.
