Summary

Description
English: The Rescue and Resuscitation event at surf carnivals allows surf lifesavers to demonstrate their prowess at belt and reel rescue and the resuscitation of the patient. For decades the surf reel was the principal means of rescue at patrolled beaches. Its effectiveness is seen in the 'no patient ever lost to drowning at any patrolled beach' statistic that is the pride of Australian surf lifesavers.
