Nieuwsbericht | 06-03-2016 | 09:31 Minister Ploumen grijpt Internationale Vrouwendag aan om aandacht te vragen voor de meisjes en vrouwen die slachtoffer geworden zijn van Boko Haram. Samen met scholieren, studenten, vertegenwoordigers van UNICEF Nederland en International Alert loopt de minister op 8 maart in Den Haag een protestmars om de campagne #FutureforOurGirls te lanceren. Ploumen: 'Het is belangrijk dat wij de duizenden ontvoerde meisjes en vrouwen door Boko Haram niet vergeten. Daarvoor is twee jaar geleden de actie Bring back Our Girls gestart. Gelukkig zijn er vrouwen en meisjes ontsnapt aan Boko Haram. Goed nieuws zou je denken! Tragisch genoeg pakt dat heel anders uit. Want ze worden niet geaccepteerd door hun familie, gewantrouwd door de gemeenschap en als ‘besmet’ gezien.' Speciale gast is Florence Ozor, een van de initiatiefnemers van de campagne #Bringbackourgirls die als eerste aandacht vroeg voor de ontvoerde meisjes en vrouwen. Met #FutureforOurGirls komt hierop een vervolg om de bevrijde vrouwen een hart onder de riem te steken. Nederland heeft organisaties met dit doel financiële ondersteuning aangeboden en is daarmee de vijfde donor van humanitaire hulp aan Nigeria.
