Title
Finger ring
Description
English: A medieval finger-ring with a cabled hoop, the inside is plain with an inscription that reads: HONNE'R ET JOYE (Honour and Joy) The ring may have been exchanged between lovers or might have served as a wedding ring. The finger-ring is gold and dates from the fifteenth century. Dimensions: diameter 18 mm, height 4mm. As we have no evidence that this find was discovered post-1997 we must evaluate it under Treasure Trove laws. Under Treasure Trove evidence would have to point to the object having been deliberately hidden with the intention of recovery. The finger-ring is most likely to be a casual loss, therefore does not constitute treasure. J P Robinson
