Summary

Description

Speaker Nancy Pelosi

On March 22, 2022, the LBJ Foundation in Austin hosted the Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, for a wide-ranging civic conversation held fittingly during Women’s History Month. Speaker Pelosi, a Democrat, is one of the most consequential political leaders of our time and second in the line of succession to the U.S. presidency. In 2007, she became the first female House Speaker, serving until the GOP took over the House in 2011. She made history again in 2019 when she was again elected Speaker, becoming the first person to regain that commanding position in over half a century.

The event was held for the Friends of the LBJ Library in the auditorium at the LBJ Presidential Library. The conversation was moderated by Mark K. Updegrove, President and CEO of the LBJ Foundation.
