Bhutan (Dzongkha: འབྲུག་ཡུལ), officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a country in South Asia, in the Himalayas. Bhutan is a kingdom, and is ruled by the Druk Gyalpo (which means Dragon King). The current king of Bhutan is Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, who has been the king since 2006. His father, King Jigme Singye Wangchuck became widely known for the Gross National Happiness index, used to measure the well-being of citizens rather than the Gross Domestic Product.
