Dialogue edit

Rosen: Your eyes are red. You been smokin' crack?
Beck: Your eyes are glazed. You been eatin' donuts?

Jake: Don't miss, Bishop.
Marion: Run fast, Sergeant.

Marko: My man here say your dog testify at his cousins trial.
Jake: [Laughs] Oh, shit!

Iris: I can't stop thinking about sex, I usually think about sex a lot but this is crazy
Marion: Sex and death are very closely related, the Greeks called it Eros and Thanatos love and death, or sex as a way of nullifying thoughts of dying

Jake: [Throwing a badge on the table] So, I just killed someone. His name was Danny Barbaro, a cop... he works for Ray Portnow. Tell me Bishop, why are police officers risking their lives to get to you?
Marion: I suppose you know who I am, Sergant Roenick?
Jake: You're a scumbag gangster.
Marion: Well, one of my scumbag partners in crime is your fellow officer, Marcus DuVall. Me and DuVall used to split things fifty-fifty. Marcus got greedy, he wanted more.
Jake: So what?
Marion: So, if I go to court and finger all of them... they go to jail, for the rest of their days.

Jake: How's your car?
Alex: Won't move. Must've walked two miles in this damn weather. I'm soaking. Look at me.
Jake: Well, thank God you're not hurt.
Alex: So, how did you enjoy your file?
Jake: Oh, yeah, yeah, you dropped this...
Alex: Oh, really? I dropped it? That's strange, because I was sure that you took it.
Jake: Definitely dropped it.
Alex: That's disappointing. If you had stolen it, it would've been the first time you were taking a proactive interest in your therapy.
Jake: And you know it's a bunch of bullshit.
Alex: So, you read it?
Jake: Yeah, I fucking read it.
Alex: Did you steal it?
Jake: You know I stole it, all right, you know. And stop being so goddamn happy about it, Dr. Sabian. It makes me sick. "I think he's hiding behind his injury. He's not really hurt. Jake Roenick no longer considers himself a cop." What kind of bullshit is that, huh? You think I'm scared? That's what it is, right? You think I'm scared.
Alex: If you've read further on, you would see that's not what I think.
Jake: All right, well, then tell me what it is that you think, Dr. Mrs. Mindfuck?! What is it that you think I'm hiding from?!
Alex: I'm not gonna explain myself to you if you're gonna act like a child, excuse me. Run away.
Jake: We both know you can't handle this shit 'cause you want to fuck me.
Alex: Sergeant, if I wanted to fuck you, it would've happened already.
Jake: Gotta learn to control yourself, Doc. It's affecting your work, you know? It's very unprofessional.
Alex: Don't try to discredit me because you're afraid I may be right.
Jake: Right?!
Alex: Yes.
Jake: About what?! Come on! Tell me Mrs. Doctor mind fuck, what do you think I'm hiding from? And if you're right, I'll you tell you you're right.
Alex: I believe the prospect of responsibility has rendered you impotent, and that's why you're working at this old precinct behind a desk
Jake: I'm injured alright? That's why I'm here
Alex: Bullshit, you feel responsible for the death of team eight months ago and that's why you're here
Jake: I didn't do anything wrong a board of inquiry cleared me
Alex: You didn't do anything wrong but it was your decision that sent them down the left hallway and not the right hallway and out the front door and not the back door and you don't want to make decisions like that again
Jake: So you may be right, do you want a medal?

Jake: Listen to me. What are we talking about, really? Getting high? No. We're talking about a journey, man. A subconscious safari. A mental expedition, OK, a mind trek. This planet has been raped, pillaged and fucked! And the mind is the only uncharted territory [Picks up cocaine] And this shit is the ship. It's the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria and you... are fuckin' Magellan. [Spills a little bit of cocaine] Oh fuck... I spilled some. [Laughs hysterically] So what do you say my Serbian motherfucking friend? Do you want to take a trip or do you want to sit on your ass?
Marko: Yeah, OK, Napoleon... let's see what you got.

Marcus: [Kneels in front of a kneeling Alex] How many are inside?
Alex: [Thinking] Uh... 100.
Marcus: Answer the question.
Kahane: [Shakes Alex] Answer, bitch! [She stares at Duvall]
Marcus: You're a brave woman. [Stands up and shoots Sabian point blank in the head]

Jake: The threat is over!
Smiley: Are you fucking kidding me, Sergeant?

Jake: Why did I let her go?
Marion: I know a lot about dying, Sergeant. There's two ways you can handle it. With self pity, or without it.
Jake: Fuck you. Get out of my office.
Marion: I see you've made your decision.

Marcus: I'm looking at this as a matter of simple mathematics. We walk in and those 8 people survive and 33 lives are destroyed. The lives of my men and their families, people I'm responsible for, people I... people I love.
Kahane: I don't see any other way, Marcus. Blood trail leads right back to us. We don't have any other choice.
Marcus: We go through with it. We are going to have to live with this for the rest of our lives. But, you know something Michael, I could live with that, more than I could live with a cellmate. Once we step outside, those people are no longer civilians or cops. We got to put them all down without pause and without regard.

Iris: Stalked! That's not very nice, boss.
Jake: You're right. You're lovely and amazing and it's my honor to spend New Year's Eve with you.
Iris: And you're a sarcastic prick, aren't ya? We're going to have a good time tonight, boss. We officially shut down and all calls are diverted, so we might as well be closed now. We can start getting fucked up real early!
Jake: Alright, not too early. We got to start picking this shit up.
Iris: Not much. All the computers are gone and most of the gear. Now, come on, Sarge. It's my favorite holiday. I even put on my sexy holiday boots. Even though we're here, I want to do it right.
Jake: How could you possibly do it wrong?

Jasper: Those girls are dead.
Iris: [Everyone looks at Jasper stunned at what happened without hope] . We don't have a God damned chance. Do we? Sarge! [Frustrated at Jake's lack of response]
Iris: Sarge, God fucking damn it! The five of us can't hold them back. They're going to take out each and everyone of us. What are we suppose to do, Sarge? [Jake zones out as he asks himself that question]
Iris: What are we supposed? What the fuck are we supposed to do?
[Everyone continues to glance at Jake as he ponders Iris's plead for help]
Jake: [clueless and hopeless] I don't know.
[Jake leaves the room while Jasper, Iris, and Bishop look on]

Jake: So, our shit's still on pause. Is that it?
Marion: Yeah, our shit's on pause.

Iris: [Holding her pack of cigarettes with helping the wounded Jake to the ambulance] Shit! This is fucking tempting! [Takes out a cigarette out]
Jake: [Stops her] Uh, don't break your New Year's resolution. Eh, give me one. I didn't make that promise. [Iris offers him a cigarette and lights it for him]
Iris: Sergeant, I didn't even recognize you tonight. You were like a whole different other badass tough motherfucker back there, huh? [Starts laughing]
Jake: [Smiles] Ummm, think so? Yeah, well, get use to it.
Iris: [Continues laughing] Happy New Year, Sarge!

Marcus: Call Roenick.
Marion: Who's Roenick?
[Marcus tortures Bishop by pressing his gun against Bishop's gunshot wound]
Marcus: It's that son of a bitch out there. Isn't it? Call Roenick. Tell him I'm dead.
Marion: You know me, Marcus. I cannot tell a lie. [Laughs]
Marion: Look at you. When I first approached you ten years ago, you couldn't look me in the eye. One of those nervous God fearing types. Now, you put a bullet in me, no hesitation. You're quite the changed man this New Year's, Marcus.
Marcus: [Acknowledging Bishop's refusal to cooperate] Now, this is the last fucking time. Tell me where Roenick is.
Jake: [Appearing] He doesn't have to. [Continues to walk towards Duvall aiming his gun] Drop your weapon.
[Duvall stands up and aims his weapon at Bishop with a long pause ensuing]
'Marion: What are you waiting for? Shoot him.
Jake: Shut up! Put the gun down, Duvall.
Marcus: What are you going to do? Are you going to shoot me? Arrest me? You going to kill a cop?
Jake: There's only one cop here. Now, put the God damn gun down. You're caught! How many more people are you going to kill tonight?
Marcus: As many as it takes.
Jake: You make me fucking sick!
[Duvall suddenly raises his gun and fires just as Roenick fires and they both fall]
