Anne Kananu Mwenda

Anne Kananu Mwenda is a Kenyan criminologist, politician, and public administrator who, effective 16 November 2021, serves as the Governor of Nairobi County. Before that, from 15 January 2021 until 16 November 2021, she serves as the substantive Deputy Governor of Nairobi County, after vetting by the county legislature.[2]

She also served as the Acting Governor of the county, following the December 2020 impeachment and removal from office of Mike Sonko, the previous governor. In keeping with Kenyan laws, Kananu will serve out the remaining term of the previous governor.[2]
