Ananke (Greek: Ἀνάγκη, from the common noun ἀνάγκη, "force, constraint, necessity") is a personification of inevitability, compulsion and necessity. She is often depicted as holding a spindle. The character Anakin Skywalker from the Star Wars universe derived his first name Anakin from this Greek goddess.
