- October 4, 2008: UDScott and InvisibleSun are now bureaucrats. Congrats!
- September 22, 2008: WQ:RFA#Votes of confidence on Cato, Quillercouch (aka Poetlister) and Yehudi closed and all three of them are deflagged. In consequence of discussion all but one of their accounts are permanently blocked.
- September 20, 2008: UDScott and InvisibleSun are nominated as bureaucrat candidates. Votes are open until October 3 at least.
- September 20, 2008: m:Metapub/On disbanding Wikiquote is closed as rejected.
- September 15, 2008: WQ:RFA#Votes of confidence on Cato, Quillercouch (aka Poetlister) and Yehudi started which s:user:Cato confessed to be identical.
- September 7, 2008: m:Metapub/On disbanding Wikiquote is suggested. Related discussions may be found at WQ:VP.
- July 5, 2008: Jusjih, Wikimedia steward, is now requesting for local checkuser flag on this project
- June 27, 2008: Wikiquote day: Now Year 6 begins!
- June 26, 2008: Ting Chen (user:Wing) wins the Board Election. He'll be appointed effective on July 1, 2008 and serves for one year.
- June 3, 2008: MalafayaBot (operator: Malafaya) is now bot-flagged. Congrats!
- April 27, 2008: Wikimedia Board Election process begins.
- April 23, 2008: Yehudi is now a sysop. Congrats!
- April 23, 2008: Stuart West (w:User:Stu) join Wikimedia Board of Trustees and now the Treasurer. The Board now consists in eight people.
- April 2008: Single user sign-in test begins. Sysops are invited to join the test and fill the bugs they find.
- March 21, 2008: English Wikiquote has 15,000 articles. The milestone article is Nicholas Roerich posted by Kalki.
- March 13, 2008: Cato is now a checkuser. Congrats!
- March 8, 2008: Cato requests for checkuser access.
- February 18, 2008: Poetlister is now a bureaucrat. Congrats!
- February 4, 2008: Poetlister requests for bureaucrat access.
- January 10, 2008: WMF has moved in San Francisco. Erik, who resigned from the Board last December is now Wikimedia Deputy Director.
- January 9, 2008: User talk-page change email notification is now enabled.
- January 2008: Happy new year! Jusjih now has an import flag. Discussion on the way to use is ongoing.
