August 1969, lebte von 1949 bis zu seinem Tode gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Gretel in diesem Haus. Der Soziologe, Philosoph, Mitbegründer der Frankfurter Schule, Direktor des Instituts für Sozialforschung, Komponist und Musikwissenschaftler erhielt 1933 Lehrverbot und musste von 1934 bis 1949 in englischer und amerikanischer Emigration leben. »Es gibt kein richtiges Leben im Falschen« – Minima Moralia –
