Summary

Description
English: An allegory on the journeys of Christoph Columbus:
The copper plate engraving from Theodore De Bry shows Christopher Columbus standing in his ship, which is near the shore. He wears a long mantle and an undercoat, his armor lies at his feet. The standard is floating from the foremast. Behind him, with a shield and a spear, stands Minerva donating a branch of laurel to Columbus. Behind Minerva is Mars. Close to Mars are two Sirens. In the sea are some harpies. On the left, what is similar to the east, the sun rises over the new land just discovered.
