香焼島にあった川南工業の造船所 (通称・川南造船所、現・三菱重工業長崎造船所香焼工場) の事務所屋上から、原爆炸裂の約15分後に撮影した写真[2]。撮影者の松田弘道に関してわかっていることは限られている[2]。生没年と、撮影当時は写真技手をしていたことくらいしか判明していない[2]。ガラス乾板で撮影したものだが、乳剤をお湯で洗ってしまったので原版は残っていない[2]。
