- George Stobbart: [narrating] Paris in the fall, the last months of the year, at the end of the millenium. The city holds many memories for me, of cafes, of music, of love, and of death.
- George Stobbart: Woah - don't shoot! I'm innocent! I'm an American!
- Moue: Can't make up your mind, huh?
First time George visits Nicole in her apartment:
- George Stobbart: You speak very good English for a French girl...
- Nicole Collard: Thanks. You speak very good English for an American.
- George Stobbart: Let's just say I'm working in the interests of truth and justice.
- Todryk: Ah, Thank God, I thought you were the police.
- George Stobbart: How did you and Rosso arrive at the scene so quickly? Was it a tip-off?
- Moue: Inspector Rosso's sources are a mystery to me, m'sieur. Some say, he has made a pact with the devil.
- George Stobbart: What do you think?
- Moue: I think, he IS the devil.
- Moue: ...And don't cross the road until the little man shows green.

- George Stobbart: Sometimes, I got the feeling that communication with Pearl was like sending signals out into space. Maybe, if you waited long enough, you'd get an intelligent answer back... but it was a long shot.
- George Stobbart: [after showing dead worm to cat] The cat looked to me as if to say "Why have you brought a dead worm halfway around the world to me"?
- George Stobbart: I honestly didn't have an answer.
- George Stobbart: I may not be making millions of dollars and I may not have thousands of nubile if uncritical young women lusting for my body but I've got something you haven't... this small piece of coal.
