I'm just checking in briefly, and must be leaving again soon, but wish to note that the QOTD suggestion made for this date with actually highest ranking at this point was:

Sin is in itself separation from the good, but despair over sin is separation a second time. ~ Søren Kierkegaard

I had in mind some images, for use with that quote, but as providing an assumed ranking of 4 on the part of Thenub314 (talk · contributions), would make the quote of Karl Marx used in the suggested arrangement tie in ranking with that one, the quote and image selections made by this editor are acceptable to me. The images chosen also accord sufficiently with my own range of aesthetic and ethical considerations, and desires to prompt broader ranges of thought and consideration of the complexities of intellectual conceptions and many types of human interests. I made slight aesthetically motivated transfer of positioning of the images suggested, so as to have Marx's eyes directed toward the quote and other imagery on the page, and the dynamics of the dancing imagery in slight visual counterbalance to this.

That minor revision made, I might only consider some slight non-area expanding tweaks — but have a few other things to attend to, and might not get back to this as the time remaining for non-admins to edit this page is only a few hours, and any further tweaks to this arrangement would probably be relatively minor ones at this point. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 18:26, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

I do congratulate Thenub314 on finding an acceptable merger of associations of the Cinco de Mayo date in Mexican culture, and the non-causally related association with Marx's birthday — such as I also might have explored, although I actually had taken no exploration of the images available in that regard, as of yet. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 18:33, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I meant to mark the quote with a 4, but got distracted with the fun of making the page. I will do that now. Thenub314 22:37, 2 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

link attribute edit

Using the link attribute for image files like this overrides the link to Commons, which provides necessary licensing information and other items of interest about the image. I recommend against doing this. When other content links are appropriate I think it is better to use a caption for that purpose. ~ Ningauble 17:43, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough, then we should go ahead and take them out. Unfortunately I can't do it at the moment, but if you could do it for me that would be great. Thenub314 17:22, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have removed the link — I had thought it an interesting option which Thenub314 had provided, but agree that if there are likely to be legal complications, they should probably not be used. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 02:19, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why change historical page? edit

And what was "wrong" with the previous version? Thenub314 00:50, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

In the above conversation you agreed to remove the links, and all I did was remove them fully, which seems to have affected the display size slightly. I have no set opposition for returning them to whatever size it was that they appeared, but I myself was puzzled by the behavior which occurred when I removed a link. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 01:25, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am rather confused about why one would change a historical page, if that is the intention of keeping it. As a mistake or not, that page "went to press" with the mistake in it. It seems wrong just to go back and scrub the past clean. Thenub314 19:51, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
