Note of March 19th, 2005 edit

I haven't edited this page as much as I thought I might, but am posting today just to wish Keri Burwell a Happy 29th Birthday. I know that many mirrors or derivatives of Wikiquote have begun to sprung up, sometimes editing themselves to seem the original source of these articles to the casual observer, but I am a (sometimes) active member only at the original site, W i k i q u o t e . o r g, with the user page http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/User:Ken_Keeping. I am NOT a deliberate contributor to " Q u o t e s P l a c e . c o m ", or any of the others. Such sites are allowed to use W i k i q u o t e material, under the GNU FDL, but they are contemptible to the extent they try to make the material seem to be originating with them.

Notes of 04/04/04 4:44 PM edit

Many of my postings to Wikiquote will probably be of relatively obscure or largely forgotten authors, whose writings I feel deserve at least a bit more attention than they have generally recieved. I will try to make some additions of such poets, essayists, and other writers at least once a month, and perhaps more, to the degree my other activities permit. I might only add to this User page when I feel it is important to make expressions upon some points that might not be appropriate in the Wikiquote articles, or their talk pages. I might alter it, or add to it, only a few times a year.

Tears edit

Not in the time of pleasure
Hope doth set her bow;
But in the sky of sorrow,
Over the vale of woe.

Through gloom and shadow look we
On beyond the years!
The soul would have no rainbow
Had the eyes no tears.

The Century Vol. 44, Issue 4 (August 1892) p.538

The Happiest Heart edit

Who drives the horses of the sun
   Shall lord it but a day;
Better the lowly deed were done,
   And kept the humble way.

The rust will find the sword of fame,
   The dust will hide the crown;
Ay, none shall nail so high his name
   Time will not tear it down.

The happiest heart that ever beat
   Was in some quiet breast
That found the common daylight sweet,
   And left to Heaven the rest.

All that I write on this particular page I release into the public domain, and my aim in providing quotes to this project is primarily to provide inspiring and enriching ideas to others, and encourage others to do the same.

Though such endeavours, may we all grow in awareness of ourselves and each other, the universe in which we dwell, and what ever may exist within it and beyond it.

Sincerely,
Ken

To Keri Burwell,

Wherever you are, have a Happy Birthday, and seek the truth. Don't remain satisfied with lies.
Love,
Ken
  • Lesser passions flare and fade amidst ignorance and fear, and yearnings for adventure and security, but Love abides, Eternally, beyond all other things.
    Satisfactions can come in many ways... not all of them good, for many are the brief delights and passing satisfactions that lies and delusions can provide, but profound, enduring contentment, and ultimate happiness can come only through the Love of Truth, and the Truths of Love. - Ken Keeping
  • Think not you can direct the course of love, for love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. - Khalil Gibran
  • Those who delight in lies, who delight in slanders, who delight in gloating at the torments and the misery that they can cause others with deceptions, are reliable friends to no one, no matter how close, not even to themselves. They are manipulators who know not the beauties that they miss... amidst the foulness of their lies. - Ken Keeping 19:58, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC)
  • A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.Mahatma Gandhi
  • All the ill that is in us comes from fear, and all the good from love. — Eleanor Farjeon
  • I hold it true, whate'er befall;
    I feel it, when I sorrow most;
    'Tis better to have loved and lost
    Than never to have loved at all.
    Alfred, Lord Tennyson
  • If you deceive someone, you lose one of life's greatest treasures, you lose the capacity to trust. Because without trust, love is not possible. — Osho
  • Jealousy is a disease, love is a healthy condition. The immature mind often mistakes one for the other, or assumes that the greater the love, the greater the jealousy —in fact, they are almost incompatible; one emotion hardly leaves room for the other. —Robert Heinlein in Stranger In A Strange Land
  • Where there is the greatest love, there are always miracles.Willa Cather
