My known internet name is BEANO, because of the fact I had really bad farts as a kid. It was like a weapon to me, since the gut-wrenching smell was good at keep my cousins from tackling me or doing anything little kids would do to others for fun. They would often make fun at me, saying that I needed to take the pill Beano, and the nickname eventually just stuck. People often call me that in place of my real name. I am currently 19 years old, and I live in Klamath Falls, Oregon. I grew up in Portland, Oregon and moved to Bend, Oregon in August 2001. Many people today would remember me as the little nerd from High Desert Middle School that fixed teachers' computers and solved network problems as an aide for the school administrator, or the short kid at BSH that took nerdy classes. I hung out with friends that many saw a nerdy, but friends that I saw that were great people who I still hang out with today. I currently work at Best Buy as a Geek Squad Agent. I am currently on O.S. and will be working there when I am not in school. It's a great job and I love it to death.
I ran into Wikipedia my freshman year of High School, registered an account in 2005 and have been a member since. I started to get into fighting vandalism since around February 2007, and since then I have been getting more involved and more in-depth with Wikipedia. You may have seen me at least once somewhere, whether it's patrolling new pages and placing CSD tags, taking my part in discussions for AFD's, or giving users and IP's warnings for vandalism (and the like). It's kind of fun when you're bored and have nothing to do for the rest of the evening. Don't get me wrong, I didn't used to help maintain and expand Wikipedia. I went to a High School with five shared IPs that weren't static. I've had my laughs and fun times, but I decided to turn that foolish time around and do things the other direction. I have a username on this project because this username is a part of my SUL. You may not see me here as often, but I am working to expand my scope of work and eventually come out here to edit.
When I'm not working, hanging out with friends or in school, I'm on the computer playing some videogames. I Love shooters and RPG's. My favorite kind of videogames are Strategy games. Starcraft has been my ultimate favorite game for going on ten years now. The first CD I bought was months after its release, and it says on the CD that it is for "Windows 95 / MAC". I can't wait till SC2! I was heavily involved in playing computer games. I have 6 level 20 characters on Guild Wars and all of the expansions, and played a lot of Counter Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2, and Call of Duty 4. I haven't played Guild Wars, CS:S, or TF2 since I started school. I'm trying to keep away from "commitment requiring" games so that I can focus on college and keep good grades. I'll be back to playing full-time in the summer... and maybe StarCraft 2 when it comes out :-)
I graduated from Bend High School in 2007, and I am working and attending college. I am attending Oregon Institute of Technology|OIT with credits transferred from COCC. I am in a double major program (Computer Hardware Engineering / Computer Software Engineering) with a mathematics minor. Computers have always been my life and passion. At 5, I got my hands on my first computer. A Compaq computer with an old Pentium processor and 48MB of RAM. I played many old computer games... Rebel Assault II, Dark Forces, Starcraft, etc. At 9, I was already installing programs, upgrading Windows from 95 to 98, and teaching my parents how to do things they didn't know could be done with a computer. I built my first computer at 12 years old. It was just a Pentium II Processor, but it marked a lot of achievement for me since I did it on my own. I was a computer tech aide for two years at my Middle School, and for three additional years at my High School thereafter. I today, have a pretty decent machine built (see Computer Specs below). I have built many computers for others that wanted a custom built computer, and have been paid countless times for computer repair services.
