This Article Needs Cleaning

This article needs to be cleaned...the quotes are not clear at all, nor are their contexts or sources clearly defined.

Poor translation

I have trouble believing these quotations are from the official translation of the book. They seem to have been translated (poorly) by someone with a copy in another language. For example, this gem:

With its laws, Stalin's authorities made the bandits clear: don't steal me! steal private persons! Private property is a survival from the reactionary past.

What? Made the bandits clear? Don't steal me? or this:

... and then suddenly one morning the explosion of headlines, claiming the whole Europe is moaning heart-breakingly under their heel.

Repressive headlines?

The inquiring cameramen might continue filming and show, how the Bessarabian peasant wives brought from freedom rush with the same intention to the trash already searched through by the expiring persons.

I have no idea what this sentence is supposed to convey.

I just finished up some work I started on weeks ago. I re-organized the article, added images and added a few quotes, and did a little grammar correction in some of the poor translations that were posted, but I did not remove anything other than some duplication that had occured. I might eventually work on this using a standard translation, but it will probably be weeks or months before I gradually accomplish this, and it is not one of my top priorities. ~ Kalki 12:40, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

distracting bold

I have added a section on Part IV and quotations.

Bold-type distracts a lot throughout the article. I suggest to remove it.

Unsourced quote
