This article falls within a proposed limits on quotations policy.

The subject of this article is a film, and as a result, the proposal would set a limitation of five quotes per hour (about one quote every 12 minutes).

If you would like to add another quote to the page, you should consider whether to remove one that is already there in order to keep within the bounds of fair use of copyright material.
For reference, the length of this work is: 175 min.

Dramatic cuts to the page edit

I have restored an older version prior to cutting nearly 2/3 of the page. Perhaps the page is a bit long, but this seems to go a bit too far. I would invite a bit more judicial trimming, but as this is clearly considered one of the finest films ever created I would expect some latitude (much as we have done for Casablanca). ~ UDScott (talk) 21:17, 28 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

It is a fine film, and what matters here, a well-written film. But the presence of a pithy line or two in a scene does not make all the other lines in the scene as pithy. Discretion should be used and context can be explained in a few words rather than elaborated across the scene. With regard to Casablanca, I can think of only three lines in that film that are regularly quoted. How much leeway should be granted on that basis? 73.71.251.64 02:40, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
