  • If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

I believe that would be "Notes from the Field" in InfoWorld (6 March 1989).

However, if the Wikipedia article on Cringely is correct, the three quotes listed here are *not* from the same Robert X. Cringely (Mark Stephens), but rather from InforWorld's current writer (Daniel Tynan).
