Talk:Paul Graham

I believe the article has an acceptable standard of quality, format-speaking, as it is (though it sure needs more of Graham's quotes). I tried looking at other famous essayist's pages for a precedent but I found nothing particularly worthy of imitation. George Orwell's page, for instance, which can be said to follow the People Template to the letter, seems to me quite confusing and disorderly at the essay quotes at the beginning. They would be far more approachable and useful, grouped by essays as I did here, methinks. Eliazar 09:39, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but the article is still a mess. Here are a few problems I've identified:
1. The introduction is way too heavy on the wikilink. Not every single word needs to be linked.
2. Grouping by essays is fine, but if you want to group, use headers, and under each header order quotes by placement in essay. Alternatively, group by essay but put the essay in "**" under each quote, and order by date of essay, and within an essay by order in essay. The "compromise" chosen. In that case, the first mention of the essay should be a link to the essay, with the others just naming it.

Thanks for your interest and suggestions, I tried to act on them. Please tell me if you still have more suggestions or if there are still outstanding problems. Eliazar 21:21, 25 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Excellent work! I've removed the cleanup tag, the article looks much better now. ~ MosheZadka (Talk) 02:50, 26 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • I actually worry a lot that as I get "popular" I'll be able to get away with saying stupider stuff than I would have dared say before. This sort of thing happens to a lot of people, and I would really like to avoid it.
