The quotes about Liberty are also about Freedom, and the quotes about freedom are also about liberty. I think these articles should be merged. Binky The WonderSkull 18:44, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

• I agree, because liberty is a type of freedom, and usually the two are usued interchangeably. Also, note that on the WP Freedom page, it has Liberty linked under "Freedom as a concept" ~Lewis1350 (talk)
• That may be so, but the purpose is to make quotes easy to find. Just now I found this page looking for a quote I knew used "liberty". Had it been buried on the "freedom" page, I never would have found it. The terms for Liberty and Freedom (political) or Freedom (philosophy) have often been used and abused in various ways. There are usually distinctions that are made between Freedom and Liberty, though often the meanings of different words and the differing ideas represented merge and mingle. The pages should probably remain separate for convenience in looking up quotes with the words, as pointed out in the post above. I will remove the merge tags and do a bit of cleanup on the articles. ~ V for Victory 04:44, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

I am still trying to figure it out for "Liberty" seems to be nothing more than a pipe dream". Authoritarian figures have existed since the caveman era, and we all will be born and die under some form of authority. So my best guess is that you survive by using they system to garner what you want.

   I have read the quotes and it is a salad bowl of ideas.  Liberty needs definition as clearly as 2+2=4.  If that cannot  be achieved why even consider it, but use it against itself and its followers?  Just a thought.
