Wikiquote no longer allows unsourced or inadequately sourced quotations, and they are in process of being removed from our pages (see Wikiquote:Limits on quotations); but if you can provide a reliable, precise and verifiable source for any quote on this list please move it to Karl Barth. --Antiquary 18:52, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Jesus does not give recipes that show the way to God as other teachers of religion do. He is himself the way.
  • "Jesus loves me, this I know; for the Bible tells me so."
    • Quoting the children's hymn "Jesus Loves Me" (by Anna B. Warner and David Rutherford McGuire) when asked to summarize his beliefs.
  • The best theology would need no advocates: it would prove itself.
  • To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world. Not being an expert Wikiquote editor, I don't know how to execute the move encouraged above, but do now (didn't always) think this very likely to have been quite accurately attributed to Karl Barth (by his student Jan Milič Lochman above all).
