Who set up this page? edit

Who set up this page? Kind of hypocritical to quote people ranting on about absence of objective journalism, in a page with people going on about how much they hate journalism? Is it possible to get some positive stuff about the press to even it out? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.215.6.253 (talk)

Yes it is possible. But only if someone like you takes the time to do it. ~ Ningauble 15:38, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I put some work into the page and cleaned it up a bit. Cirt (talk) 01:58, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • "Some people will say that words like scum and rotten are wrong for Objective Journalism — which is true, but they miss the point. It was the built-in blind spots of the Objective rules and dogma that allowed Nixon to slither into the White House in the first place. He looked so good on paper that you could almost vote for him sight unseen. He seemed so all-American, so much like Horatio Alger, that he was able to slip through the cracks of Objective Journalism. You had to get Subjective to see Nixon clearly, and the shock of recognition was often painful."

  • "The press is just a bunch of rubbish anyway. So — you know — they never get a story right anyways, and it's always rumors and gossip and, um, over-sensationalized shit."
    • Christina Aguilera, interview in the Christina Aguilera: Music Box Biographical Collection
  • "Can't make out whether it is mere middleaged depression or whether it is really that I loathe journalism so much that it covers all my days with a dark cloud of shame."
  • Journalism (definition): The art, or science, of representing life as a series of clichés.
    • Richard Summerbell, Abnormally Happy, 1985
  • "So much for Objective Journalism. Don’t bother to look for it here—not under any byline of mine; or anyone else I can think of. With the possible exception of things like box scores, race results, and stock market tabulations, there is no such thing as Objective Journalism. The phrase itself is a pompous contradiction in terms."
  • "Why bother with newspapers, if this is all they offer? Agnew was right. The press is a gang of cruel faggots. Journalism is not a profession or a trade. It is a cheap catch-all for fuckoffs and misfits— a false doorway to the backside of life, a filthy piss-ridden little hole nailed off by the building inspector, but just deep enough for a wino to curl up from the sidewalk and masturbate like a chimp in a zoo-cage."
