This quote cannot be found in the New York Times archives. However, Roy Newquist attributes a similar quotation to Crawford in the interview book "Conversations with Joan Crawford." Citing an unnamed "movie magazine," Newquist quotes her as saying: "Thank God I'm in love again. Now I can do it for love and not for my complexion." Crawford admits that she may well have said these words, adding, "However, sex is good for the complexion."
