Mintzberg is among the most cited organizational theorists in his field. For example according to Google Scholar:
- The structuring of organizations: A synthesis of the research (1979) cited 9075 times
- Structure in sevens, designing effective organizations (2010) cited 4256 times
- Rise and fall of strategic planning (1994) cited 5130 times
