Talk:Four Quartets

  • Discussion
Return to "Four Quartets" page.

I just removed a speedy delete tag. This talk page should NOT be deleted. It should stand as a record of the RIDICULOUS and absurd lengths the current rules are being carried to in erasing content, and even the Nineteen Eighty-Four-like erasing records of responsibility for one's own actions and decisions. I currently am far too busy with many other things to discuss the matter to the extent I am inclined to, but I am registering my protest that the current rules, how they were arrived at, and how they are being applied is something I am inclined to STRONGLY object to, and intend to eventually have far greater commentary upon. I am simply too busy to get too involved in the matter right now, and probably will be for a few more weeks, at least. ~ Achilles 23:23, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Feel free to comment, but the current set of rules was arrived at after lengthy discussion after the entire website was threatened with closure due to copyright concerns. It was not because people here wanted to arbitrarily remove content. Please see discussions in the Village Pump for some background and WQ:LOQ for the results of that discussion. ~ UDScott 00:35, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
The situation with WQ:LOQ is indeed imperfect, and suggestions for improvement would be welcome at its talk page. It may be useful to review meta:Wikimedia Forum/On disbanding Wikiquote for further background on the issues that prompted these developments. ~ Ningauble 13:38, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Quote limitsEdit

As part of the Wikiquote:Copyright Cleanup Project to avoid violation of copyright laws, this article has been trimmed to its limit of no more than 8 lines of verse per 10 pages. If you would like to add another quote to the page, you must first remove one already there. Please see Wikiquote:Limits on quotations for more information. ~ UDScott 00:35, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
