adding interpretation for sam shankland quote? edit

https://chess.stackexchange.com/questions/41615/what-exactly-does-sam-shankland-mean-by-talented-players-vs-hard-working-players

> "I think in classical chess there's a very healthy balance between uh talent and hard work and where how far each one will get you and as soon as you start shuffling the pieces to get rid of opening preparation and who's worked harder at that (...) the more talented people get a huge advantage compared to the harder working types we all know which category I sort of qualify myself in but uh well maybe I have to adjust that after a nice day today but yeah so in general uh I would definitely like to see more of these events but let's put it this way I would like to see more of these events without getting rid of classical events. I think as long as no classical events are harmed by it and removed but no it's a lot of fun for sure and uh while it might not be as serious it's definitely more fun all"

1 - What does the long quote mean? Is Sam Shankland basically saying a long version of 'less upsets happen in chess960' ? Like for players below 2750 I guess they might think 'Oh no I don't have my opening prep that I can use to force a quick draw or to give me an edge to beat much higher rated players like Magnus or Wesley So who don't need even need to opening preparation against me.' As much as I hate chess and love 9LX, I guess Sam does have a point here. I didn't think people could actually be significantly objectively harmed in terms of winning score if 9LX replaced chess.

Or maybe not necessarily or not only? Could be instead or additionally '(Even) when I play people my own rating or even, say 50-100 points, lower than me, a huge part of why I win is my opening preparation. Here "huge" is relative to other people my own rating: When they win, maybe 10% of why they win is because of openings. For me, it's 15%.'

?

2 - ok so now for the Wikipedia part:

What if anything could be added to the quote attribution to summarise the quote? I think of something like...

The quote attribution is currently

'Sam Shankland in an interview with Maurice Ashley,[106] September 2021'

becomes

'Sam Shankland in an interview with Maurice Ashley,[106] explains that some players may have significantly lower scores if chess960 replaced classical chess. September 2021' Thewriter006 (talk) 10:42, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
