Talk:Edmond Rostand

I'm looking for better translations than the Thomas/Guillemard one. Cyrano is one of my favorite plays, and this translation just doesn't do its poetry justice! Anybody that has a good copy (including the Hooker translation, though not the best), please contribute! Ryanmcdaniel 04:34, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I remember that in one of the movie versions of Cyrano — the one with Gérard Depardieu — there were very fine English subtitles provided by Anthony Burgess. It turns out that Burgess had written a complete translation of the play in 1985, apparently to great acclaim. The IMDB mentions a production of Cyrano by the Royal Shakespeare Company (starring Derek Jacobi) using the Burgess translation. [1] - InvisibleSun 00:03, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
