Suhayl ibn Amr

Suhayl ibn Amr was a prominent man among the Quraish, being known as the khatib or orator of the tribe. Clever and articulate, his opinion carried a heavy weight among his tribe. He was to play a major role in concluding the famous truce of Hudaybiyyah.

  • Stop'. 'I do not know either 'The Merciful, or the Compassionate'. Write: 'In the name of God'.
  • 'Stop it. If I accepted you as the Messenger of Allah I would not have been hostile to you. You should write only your name and the name of your father'.
