Joseph Martin Kraus

Joseph Martin Kraus (20 June 175615 December 1792) was a German composer and Hofkapellmeister in the service of king Gustav III of Sweden in Stockholm.

Kraus's polemic treatise Etwas von und über Musik fürs Jahr 1777 is a critical review on German, Italian and French music esthetics in the late 18th century considering opera, church music and the Lied. Printed and published: Frankfurt am Mayn bey den Eichenbergschen Erben, 1778.
