Hannah Glasse (1708–1770) cookery writer, author of the famous The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy published in 1747 and remaining in print for 80 years.

- Sometimes attributed to Glasse, but in fact the phrase appears nowhere in her Art of Cookery. The closest is under roast hare (page 6), "Take your hare when it be cas'd", simply meaning take a skinned hare.
