The statue is a recreation of the "Goddess of Freedom" statue from the protests in Tianamen Square in 1989, where the original statue was brutally destroyed and 1,000s killed by the PRC Communist government. This recreation of that statue is copyrighted by Thomas Marsh, who has released to right to photograph the statue to anybody CC-BY.
