Summary

Description
English: Statue of Robert E. Lee in Lee Chapel in Lexington, Virginia, showing him asleep on the battlefield. The sculpture, by Edward Valentine, is often mistakenly thought to be a sarcophagus or tomb. Lee is interred in the Chapel crypt downstairs (along with other family members), across from his office. His horse, Traveller, is buried outside the side entrance to the Chapel.
